I was interested to read Luca Gabriel's comments after the Pershore match, regarding the fantastic talent and getting behind the Club's youth players. Fair enough. Some good young players are coming through.
However what I don't understand, and what concerns me, is why the youth set up is not a part of the main Football club ? Why ?
Nine " Development " teams other than the first team are listed on the club's website, plus two " Girls " teams who play under the Worcester City name.
It appears to have separate sponsors, but more worrying to me, is that I understand all it's finances are kept completely separate from WCFC Ltd, yet they play under the Worcester City name and appear to be part of the Club.
Having run football teams, there are many costs and I know that it costs a lot to run them, and with 11 teams there will be many thousands of pounds involved.
Does the youth set up make a profit, and if so how, what happens to that, or if it makes a loss, is that subsidised by WCFC Ltd ? Are their finances audited ?
Perhaps " Development Director " Mark Wilcox or one of his fans could enlighten us on this odd situation ?

I assume this is a result of the club's ineptitude. I would think that keeping the youth set up separate can only be a good thing. In fact this may be the key to forming the phoenix club. Worcester City Juniors has a nice eccentric ring to it that would put us in the company of both Bocca and Pershore.

It's pleasing to see that Snapper has been bringing some of the youth players into the first team squad this season, and that he intends looking to youth next season.
Why then, if the players are seen as part of the club, the finances aren't ? What else isn't included ?
Another one for Andy Mitchell to ask the elusive Mark Wilcox when he decides to next pick up his phone ?

"I understand all it's finances are kept completely separate from WCFC Ltd" sounds like a very sensible move!

I think you’ll find it’s self funded because the club can’t afford the expense to run it! It’s certainly not cheap to run a junior section. Money that’s brought in by sponsors and players subs goes back into the running of the youth system. No coach gets paid and no one takes money out of at all there is any left!
It is exactly the same set up as every other junior section at this level. To accuse others of using this money or keeping it is absurd!

worcesterfan2018 - Unless I'm reading something different, no one has accused anyone of anything ? I was just asking why is the youth set up not part of WCFC Ltd ? I still don't know the answer.

None of our Under 21 team have had a sustained run in the first team this season, despite the lowly level we're playing at. Sounds like that situation will change next season. Will people will want to travel from Worcester to Bromsgrove and then pay £8 to watch what may be principally an under 21 team though?

Seems to me hat the Juniors are lucky not to have been under the financial aegis of recent City FC regimes. By now they would all be skint and playing outside the City !
