I just happened to drive past yesterday. It's amazing to see what SMD can get done that was an obstacle to WCFC. One of the obstacles was " A pedestrian bridge over Nunnery Way was ruled out, along with a crossing controlled by lights because it would interrupt the flow of traffic on the 70mph road." It's odd how that just seems to have applied to WCFC's plans but not to those of SMD's. Strange that isn't it ?

Luckily for SMD's plans, the pelican crossing is now almost finished. Where it's placed is far too close to the roundabout, so that anyone coming north from the Whittington direction will come around the roundabout and have to slam the brakes on. Approaching the " exciting mixed use development " grey sheds to you and I, from the farmers market, the 40 mph signs have gone up which should slow the traffic down further. The exit slip road from the site is very poorly designed, and narrows very quickly.
So that's the " flow of traffic " obstacle sorted then !
As if the Whittington residents aren't going to suffer enough as it is with this tatty development which adds nothing, in the next field down towards Junction 7, on the other side of the roundabout, the sign has gone up for the new housing development, " Whittington Walk " which no doubt will be also be " exciting " and will blend in seamlessly.
What is also interesting is how the housing development currently being built on the opposite side of the road ( the huge development at the back of Kilbury Drive ) were refused access onto the road by the Highways Authority, yet it's no problem on the other side of the road ! Some people just seem to get all the luck on planning applications don't they ?
Considering that building on this part of Worcester was only ever taking place with a " landmark football stadium " as the catalyst for any build, they've done pretty well considering. I wonder how SMD do it ?
Andrew Guy's observations make very interesting reading.........questioning the strange decision making over Swineherd Way................
