Well I guess being asked to make changes doesn't mean go away it cannot be built at Perdiswell.

Read into this what you like, and remember, the Press do like to be mischievous at times. What is being talked about here are planning issues, and neither party discussed the planning application (or were in a position to discuss the planning application) at the private talks. And all that Rob Crean and Marc Bayliss have been quoted as saying was that the talks were positive - and they were. It keeps the club firmly in the media spotlight though!

Sounds like some kicking into the long grass going on. Need me to pull together another banner ;-)
"During the talks the club agreed to seriously consider any alternatives if they were offered one, and in turn the council agreed to treat the trust's Perdiswell planning application fairly."
How very decent of the Council...

How very decent of the Council... Exactly, no news in here at all. Just read that sentence and you'll see it says absolutely nothing at all!

Well, if I'm trying to be upbeat - it's good that the trust has been talking to the council, and that the council and yourselves have gone on record saying that the talks were positive.
If I'm being cynical, I'd probably say that it's just delaying tactics by the council so that the application isn't heard until after the May elections.
I guess we'll have to wait and see.

When the application is heard is down to the planning officers and not the council

I think that the council are now fully aware of what we are trying to achieve at Perdiswell and it was a good opportunity to put that directly to Marc Bayliss; whether it is supported down the line remains to be seen. If the council believe they have options that need to be considered we are duty bound to listen but we have been clear that we need to get this decision right and ensure and that we put in place a long term solution to securing the club's future and not just short term political expediency. Just for clarity the updates to the planning application were requested by the planners, as they have been throughout the planning process, not the council, and will be with planning case officer today. Next step then is for him to have the next consultation discussions.

When I was secretary to a council for a period the Chairman's favourite tactic, if he didn't want something to happen, was to form a sub-committee or working party to look at the issue.

According to what I heard from involved parties last night - apparently, Bayliss or one of his grouping stood up in the City Council Meeting last night and stated that the club have now been informed of the "alternative sites" for the Community Hub and Stadium.
Can anyone confirm or deny this? I'm waiting for the Minutes of the meeting last night to go up online to have a further look as to what exactly was said...
