Very interesting, that. He was on loan to Telford, so I guess City had first call. And if he was struggling to commit timewise, surely being with Worcester rather than Telford would have allowed him more time (5 hours a week travelling on average). So, I guess the judgement was that he is not for us, at this moment in time.
Or perhaps its a case that he did enough at Telford to convince them (unlike the time didnt convince Andy Preece), and their bigger crowds allow them to make a better offer.
Whoever our new midfield signing is is going to be key for us. Felt early on that Cornes was the amn, and still might have been with an attitude change. Maybe it'll be easier for him playing away from his home town.
For me, this runs the risk of Cornes doing a Seddon on us. However, its not as if he didnt have his chance at the time.

AP can't retain players just to stop them playing against us. We need someone who can consistantly perform as a team player. Sadly, Cornes wasn't that man.

He's not for us, and I would wager that he probably won't see out his year at Telford. I really wouldn't put too much time into worrying about Chris Cornes, I'm sure Preecey won't be, the attitude change never came about even when given chances to play at the highest level, they won't happen now. Its the players that want to play to the best of their ability for the benefit of WCFC that matter

Good luck to him - undoubtedly talented but not the type of bloke you would want stood next to you in the trenches. If you google his name one of the first pages that comes up is the Port Vale forum where there is a heated debate on his relative merits from his time there. Quite a few of their supporters were disappointed that he never made his move there a permanent one.

Be all right standing behind him in the trenches, there's plenty of him.
