Worcester city a family club? As long as you can only buy chocolate and crisps at the Bar it won't be a family club. Its still the same old old-fashioned football club

I think chocolate and crisps should be replaced by low-fat yoghurt dip and rocket salad. It may make for more refined supporters.

After seeing the title of the thread I was hoping for f**k OFF in huge letters for the the first post but ah well . Maybe if they played good songs like that at SGL georgie might dance more instead of the crap 'is this the way to amarillo'.

I too had the same hopes for the first post as Mazey. It takes more than Tony Christie to whip the SGL faithful into a fervour. Goals, attacking football, that sort of thing........

Ok let's pretend. You have been made guest dj for a half time next season. You have 15 minutes = 5 x 3 min tracks. What would they be?

A good idea, in fact an excellent idea, and served by nubile virgins clad in nothing but an away shirt (to avoid any colour clash) on silver platters. But knowking the club, you'd get it in a plastic dish from the social club!!!! The chocolate issue is a serious one which the club continues to disregard, coming out with some guff about not being able to sell chocolate bars where hot food is served, strange that Brian Murdoch manages to sell Twix, Mars Bars and Prawn Cocktail crisps right next to his massive and tasty burgers and famous soup at Kiddy Harriers!!!! Come on Dave, lets get this one sorted, it isn't difficult.

How about 1 15 minutes track, I'd make everyone including myself suffer 15 minutes of Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands (no time for the final minute and a half) and then in contrast the football, however dire, would look upbeat and positive!!!

How about starting with Skootch - Flying the Flag, Leiutenant Pigeon - Mouldy Old Dough, Sailor - Glass of Champagne, The Sweet - Ballroom Blitz and Kajagoogoo - Too Shy.

Ok let's pretend. You have been made guest dj for a half time next season. You have 15 minutes = 5 x 3 min tracks. What would they be? Well as you'll know, I used to do the tannoy for the Reserves on a regular basis for several years, and also did several first team games when Tony Deakin was away (pre-Captain Crazy days, when I lived in Worcester). The reserves used to come on to New Order's "Regret" on a regular basis (well it was the theme of the ITV live match on the Sunday in those days). Pre-match tunes played included Crass's "Mother Earth" (and I will stake a month's salary that nobody else has ever played Crass at the Lane), the Velvet Underground's "Heroin", Happy Mondays' "Brain Dead", various Fall, Sisters of Mercy and Cocteau Twins songs, Manic Street Preachers "Repeat", and at half time The Buzzcocks "Oh s***" when we were two down. Did play The Ramones "Rockaway Beach" at a first team game as well, when we beat Bath 2-0 the year George was manager there and we ended their 14 game winning streak. You'll never get to hear that sort of thing these days!

Does anyone ever actually give a damn about half time music? anyway with all the other half time entertainment, one can hardly contain ones excitement during the half time interval. Favourite half time entertainment has to be "What's in the cup?" where you have to guess the drink that you bought thinking it was coffee.

I always take my own drink. I know then that it's tea or coffee, as appropriate; and the coffee has a "little something" in it on cold Monday evenings.

I wish the coffee on the Brookside had a "little something" in it, coffee would be a good idea. I take the little sachets that I "acquire" from hotels and add it!!! The catering really is very very poor.

Uh Oh....
I can see a 'Locked Thread' imminent - Brooky, saying as it is and being 'negative'....
Your wrong though..its worse than that
The 'catering' is quite simply scandalous - it falls even below the level of your average summer fete.
I just cannot understand why it is allowed to continue?
Anyone know why???
Perhaps I should write in and see if it'll get a special report on G.Ramsey's F-Word!!!

The catering is a travesty at the Lane, it seriously devalues the afternoon/evening out at the club, and leads to so much negative feeling towards the overall package. I would have thought that sorting out the catering would be a priority for the Board - after all, good caterers will bring more money in!

I hope thats not the case, and not the reason for the total lack of effort as far as catering is concerned. I'm sure though that the club will say that there's no point in changing as they'll be moving to the new ground soon!!!

Why? its not a crime to profit from catering, in fact its more of a crime NOT to profit from catering. Any director providing services to the club which he gets paid for is doing nothing untowards, and it is public domain information which is available to anyone. Lets not start deleting public domain information!!!!

Suggesting that a director has his 'hand in the till' is not something any of the three moderators are keen on seeing on this board. We have given 'sleepinggiant' our reasons for deleting his message.

I didn't read it like that, and I don't think others will have either. It seemed to me to be more a suggestion that the catering company had links with one of the directors, which meant that the director benefitted financially from the engagement with the current catering contractors, which is not the same at all as inferring that they had their hand in the till, far from it! Of course it benefits the director to have his catering company providing the food. But it would benefit him and the club a hell of a lot more if they were to provide decent food!

In no way did I insinuate that anybody had there "hand in the till" but as JP says possibly makes an honest profit from the catering side of the club.
Whether this is in the best interests of the club though is another matter in my opinion and one that needs open discussion.
