Chris Cornes scored a 30 yard 'stunner' for Telford's second today.

Talent is nothing without application, as poor young Mr Cornes will learn too late, although of course youth is also wasted on the young.

I'd put money on him now to do something similar against us in next season's match v Telford; if only to show us all how wrong we were.

That remains to be seen.
However, thinking of players who have similarly departed under a cloud, where's Jai Stanley (not in Telford's first choice line-up it would appear) and Christian Moore now? So perhaps the supporters on the terraces do see more of the game.

Couldn't agree more Tim. The discerning long suffering fan on the SGL terraces knows a good ( and bad ! ) player when they see them. I tend to think that most managers sign players on reputation based on he played for so and so, therefore he must be good ( callled in footballing parlance " The Phil Neville/ Nicky Butt syndrome ", or as in our case, they played well against us !

Anton Rippon's book about football during the war years (1939-1945) gives some great examples of people who came out of the crowd to play in professional matches who were entirely bogus. It was common for teams to have a palyer shortage due to wartime restrictions on travel and leave for service personnel and although the system of guest players allowed most XI's to be filled there were times when a last minute vacancy arose. No subs (other than U Boats) in those days so you were down to 10 if a joker made it on to the pitch! It would be quite funny today to see a joker appear at centre back for Man U in an important semi final....
... oh didnt that happen in Milan recently?

So that explains Christian Moore then.

There is no doubt that the lad is tallented, it's more a question of mindset. Personally I hope he makes it as it would be such a shame to waste the natural ability.

According to the Non-League Daily Telford's latest signing is Asa Charlton from Mansfield. His Football League career didn't last then.

I see also from the Non-League Daily that Jack Bentley died on Saturday. I can well remember him playing for Telford. Makes me feel old when players I saw play start dying.
