Some interesting words from a visiting cousin ... (off the Kiddy website)
"Just been up the Lane to watch our less fortunate cousins from down the A449 beat Weston-Super-Mare 1-0. I'm not sure as to the relative strength of the South-Western side, but on the basis of their own play our city neighbours were possibly the best i've seen them in my 15 years of watching football. Ayres was a towering presence at the back, and they looked a threat on the flanks. Also over a thousand there - I wonder how they'll perform against Bromley in the next round..."

Agree with the comment about Lee Ayres. Thought he was immense, especially as he's not played much so far this season.

I've always been a Lee Ayres fan; I thought that for a player who came in after playing very little he performed as admirably as usual; I remember the job he did on Reeves when we played Altrincham last season. He and Rowe make a good central pairing - and isn't it great to have players who can come off the subs bench and do a job?
Full marks to Weston for making a real cup-tie of it and perhaps they could argue they were a bit unlucky, but so were we - we definitely needed goal-line technology when that shot from Mills looked as if it were a goal (did anyone behind the goal see close up?) and they had several other close shaves, notably Michael Taylor's towards the end when he did everything right except put it in the back of the net.
All in all a great night's entertainment which hopefully might attract a few back on Saturday.
