For the first time ever ... I actually turned the TV off (after 24 minutes).
Another English Classic Sporting Event destroyed by money.

Did you notice how many empty seats there were at the ground? Corporates who had tickets but didn't turn up. I heard that Jeremy Clarkson, a mna who detests football, had two tickets for the final provided for him. But the FA would prefer 2 empty seats sold for £5k each rather than 2 full seats at £50 a piece.

theyve been advertising alot of ten year seat licences which reserves a seat for anything between 4 and 16 grand plus an annual season ticket charge to see all matches at the stadium. i dont know what percentage of the seating is sold in this way but it cant help the atmosphere.

The majority of tickets for any final should go to the clubs involved, with a small number available to the sponsors. Why do minor FA officials get a jolly. They get paid for doing the job as it is. There are plenty of volunteers out there who deserve a chance of tickets.

I spent ages yesterday trying to get hold of tickets for the Championship play off final all to no avail. Derby and West Brom both have 33500 tickets to sell. So if the stadium holds 90,000 where are the remaining 23,000 tickets All held back for the corporate people and theur guests I suppose

Mark, it will be interesting (and hugely frustrating) to see how many empty seats there are at that game.

Hugely frustrating is an understatement.
I'm not sure how sales are going for the Baggies, but if they have been anything like what I have heard about at Derby, it' s likely that all 90,000 tickets could have been sold.

I don't think that all the tickets should go to the two clubs involved in a final, and one reason that they don't has been the clubs irresposible attitude to managing ticket sales, with huge numbers ending up in the hands of the touts. Having said that, then I would not think it unreasonable that the number of tickets provided to each club should have some relationship to a) the number of season ticket holders a club has and b) the average crowds for that club. I think it is very wrong that season ticket holders at a club are denied tickets to a Cup final, after all, they've funded the club in advance often for many years. There must be a better way than the way it is done at the moment.

Have a best of three final. That should allow fans and players to participate fully.

Make them go to a replay if they draw!
