In today's 'Stafford Newsletter' Phil Robinson denies he has applied for the City job, but his No 2. Dave Oldfield has left the club today 'because of finanacial restrictions' and Robinson is clearly unsettled.
City missed a trick not appointing Robbo when JB resigned; he would be an excellent appointment now. Don't be put off by Rangers' current position in the Conference; he has worked miracles at Marston Road working within the most stringent of financial straight jackets and the faithful at Marston Road would be gutted if he left. (The Board at SRFC though have not been giving Robinson 100% backing and Oldfield's departure could be the precursor to his sacking.)

Unless of course a better candidate should appear!

With his compensation package, I'd be looking for an extremely comfortable sun bed on a beach in the Caribbean!

If we wanted to appoint a previous understudy to Graham Turner to the post, then why not the current incumbent, John Trewick.
Phil Robinson doesn't appear to have succeeded @ Stafford.

I don't know about that. He had Stafford at the top of the DML / CN year after year. Took them up into the Conference on a shoestring and has kept them there thereafter. Now the shoestring is more like a spiders cobweb he really is struggling. He's certainly got the contacts and an eye for a bargain. But lets see..... I was all for Preecey last time. So what do I know!

Phil Robinson has proven experience of getting a Club very similar to City promoted out of the CN.
He also knows what is needed to stay in the Conference.
I think that Dave said in the paper that no compensation would be paid to Clubs for managers holding positions, so I guess it may rule Phil out of the equation.

But in a world of bluff and double bluff Andy I am happy to just wait and see, I have every faith in the directors to find a suitable candidate.
My interview went very well!

I want a guy who will lead us into the Conference. And what is wrong with a woman, how do you know city arent going to be the first team to have a lady manager. I can certainly shout very loud (I have had training - I am not kidding either) and my selection of players would all have nice pert bums and lovely smiles so they would certainly be contenders for the Conference next season and League two the next! The directors certainly seemed impressed with my ideas. I am very confident that I have it in the bag.

Besides I thought Phil Robinson was the crap England goalie, not really manager material.

I am not telling you Darrell as you will then apply for the job too! Besides we would be both fighting over who helps Adam Wilde into his kit!

All I can say is the directors have as good as told me I have the job. There are going to big changes, gone is the blue and white - shirts will be white with pink spots next season, pink shorts and pink socks with feathery detail. It is going to be fab!

The way they've been playing I thought they'd already changed the kit, to white shirts with a yellow stripe down the back, brown shorts and thermal socks!

A sad day for Rangers; he took them from the Midlands division to the Conference on a shoestring. They won't find a replacement of his quality and commitment in a hurry.
