My first visit to our new home. No turnstiles and the ‘ornamental lake’ took me by surprise. The pitch looked good, but the slope was unexpected, but I guess we should be used to that after playing at Bromsgrove. The floodlighting is excellent. The refreshments and burger van is a welcome initiative much appreciated by my kids. . When the new Clubhouse is finished it looks as though it will be an excellent and welcome development. Two small stands with seating down one side of the pitch, many seats not utilised due to Covid. The biggest problem at the moment is there is no covered standing area, can’t see fans wanting to come and stand in the pouring rain.
The 4G facility looks marvellous the best I have seen, the layout clearly well thought out with good access and viewing facilities for spectators and the artificial pitch looks magnificent.
Overall I was pleasantly surprised. The most important thing is the ‘heart’ of the club, the hard core of supporters and the sense of community, that has travelled with the team these last 7 years, has found its way to Claines Lane and was there last night.

I am not sure if this is the right place, I have been trying to find out who organised and ran the City’s Fantasy Football League last season and are they doing it again. Four of my family would like to participate. Please let me know (Tony Partridge)

Agree with stamoo, lack of cover will put people off when it's raining.
So will the lack of seating. There are two stands but only one is open to fans, the other is reserved for Directors etc.
Really need some slabs or hard surface at the entrance before wet weather comes as well.
The 4g facility looks impressive. So does the main building construction, much bigger than I imagined.

No bloody cover anywhere and I got wet! They've had 2,000 years to put a roof on that thing. That was until I found this amazing invention, called an umbrella!! It's like a big hood of material attached to a frame, and the frame is retractable. It keeps one nice and dry. Come on folks, lets have some perspective, we play in the Midland Football Pub Premier League, and over the last few years we've struggled to even stay in existence. I think we need to be thankful for small mercies, such as, we still have a football club. BTW plenty of people stood out on the Brookside in all weathers under umbrellas, it would would take a torrent to finally and reluctantly move into The Shed. And back then we were playing in the upper echelons of non-league football. We aren't there any more. We have to start somewhere with something, and cut our cloth to suit.

Could do with some rubber ducks in that pond. Adopt a duck (to help raise funds towards ground improvements)?

Brooksider I wasn’t being critical or lacking in perspective, if you read my post I said I was pleasantly surprised at the facilities. It is however true that not all of our elderly fan base will fit in that small stand and come the freezing cold and rain they might not come along and stand out in the open. I am sure some form of covered standing will be in the planning at some stage and that will be very welcome.

After a lapse of a couple of years I renewed my season ticket so ventured down to sample my first taste of Midland league football. The Wednesday evening was perfect for football. The sun setting behind the hills in the distance made the trees surrounding the ground stand out like silhouettes. The rural backdrop made one feel as though we were at a village cricket match. There was a homely feel about the place. Hopefully the club can now move forwards and upwards. I share the concerns mentioned elsewhere about inclement weather but have tracked down my wellies and brolly and hope the current dry spell holds on. May also need to remember to bring a torch to navigate along Claines Lane for the evening games.

The Colosseum did have a retractable roof but then it was built by the Roman empire not Worcester City.

Oddly enough, it pissed down with rain when I was there, and all around the stadium there were centurions selling umbrellas! €10 a time!!

Dan, on BBC h&w this afternoon, also had concerns about when the weather gets bad.
He also said about the road outside being narrow and the residents maybe not being happy about the traffic.
Is the Worcester FA's (as they own the ground) plan to, eventually, have all pedestrians, and officials etc in cars, to enter using the lane at the top?
