Massive? Has he actually seen the plans? They actually all got on a minibus to go up and walk around the site earlier today.

No fckin surprise at all seeing as how the Council were looking at alternative sites before the decision had even been made.

What this means (if someone can confirm) it has NOT been refused outright.
It does mean that the Council now have to go away - study the plans again to resolve any conditional items - and then hear it again.
And the Council have to pay for all fees incurred in the process. So spending more cash in the process.

Party politics at its best. RIP WCFC. No support from the council and no support from the board, perdiswell was never going to happen.

I do not think this Council will come back and say anything different given how long they've already had to look into it.

Its sad, but most of us knew Perdiswell was never going to happen anyway. But at least they tried, well done to all concerned. Now its time to move on and start looking elsewhere - probably outside of the City of Worcester.

Abandoned by Worcester City Council. Those flags spoke a lot of sense you know.

Basically - it's brazenly political and it WILL go through in the end.
If you were in the room today - you'd have heard all kinds of nonsense from the Anti side and the Tories.
This is by no means a done deal to refuse.

Firstly, thank you for such a comprehensive report Croc. The answer to those of you with doom & gloom attitudes 'this the end?' 'Perdiswell was always a non starter'......... Is a resounding NO !! I have no doubt that The WCFC Board of numpties are gloating at this. But I also have no doubts at all that The Supporters Trust Board are already taking measures to lobby this setback. I personally will be contacting every 'against' voter to express my views. I will do this in private as I feel that may be less flamatary & therefore receive a little more consideration. Any opinions on this action would be appreciated.

Well said Jimbo. I still wonder what the locals think will happen to Perdiswell were a sporting centre not built. Do they not understand that a huge housing estate is about to spread across the hole area?

An entirely predictable outcome. The scheme is not defeated but delayed...yet again.
So now we have a cash strapped Council (if the bleating hearts are to be believed?) incurring additional and unnecessary expense by voting against the recommendation of officers. Should they persist in such a course of action do they not risk the prospect of an appeal and worse the near certainty of losing such an appeal and making the council liable for the, not inconsiderable, costs of same?
I don't think we can say that those who voted against would have been unaware of the consequences. It is therefore a political statement that says to voters "we voted against the proposal" when it is ultimately approved or, alternatively, an attempt at delaying the plan for reason or reasons unknown. It is hard to believe that 6 councillors would all have some unfathomable motive for such an act of sabotage so I go along with the view that it is the former reason that is the most likely.
To fail to approve the application at the next committee would be seriously expensive for the Council and I suspect it will be approved with the no votes today abstaining next time.
What I don't know is whether there will be any further delays caused by the need to refresh any of the work in support of the application. I sincerely hope not. I think we can be confident that the application will ultimately be approved. After that attention can be turned the other issues that stand between where we are and where supporters want us to be.

Do they not understand that a huge housing estate is about to spread across the hole area? Is the hole a ground condition that will delay the progress of the scheme? Shouldn't the council be looking into it? 😉

Well, I hope you're right Croc and this is only another hurdle to jump in the process, but just shows how party politics comes into play. I feel just a little bit more hopeful than I did at 5 pm when I heard it on the news, since which point I have felt distinctly depressed.
So, from what you're saying it's a matter of watch this space?
