reading the story it realy makes me wonder why carry on with this project, the batton keeps getting dropped, as every time the suporters think it is close to being heard there is something that has not been completed or not put to the planning department, & if this gets the go ahead they say their is not enough councilors to support the land transfer bid, & we cannot raise the finances to build the stadium unless we get an investor who does not want the shares or some how the club changes its constitution & becomes supporter owned, where some of the funds can be obtained by grants, again needing some investment as i cannot see the whole thing being paid for by grants...

That's an interesting point although I can't recall you saying the same when Nunnery Way had been going for for five times longer. This is a political decision and everything possible is being done to stop this application from being heard. Apparently there is no political will from Councillors, so let's hear it, let them nail they colours to the mast and vote against it. Let's hear their well thought out reasoning for rejecting it. I am really looking forward to Anthony Hampson and the City Council announcing the alternative site and I will be personally asking the City Councillors in that ward whether they are backing it. The same will be asked to the Parish Council and the County Councillors in that area. The Councillors opposed to this have a key ally who is an incompetent buffoon - no prizes for guessing. With regards to funding it I will ask the same question to Anthony Hampson, although I expect we will get the usual bluster, it's confidential or the more likely option in that he just won't answer. I am sure you will be asking the same thatloudbloke.

Rich has prompted a nightmare scenario. Hallmark steps up and "facilitates" the building of a new stadium. More legal fees. More consultancy fees. A snout in various construction companies' expenses. And we'll get a shed in a field next to Sixways.
Of course that's just me having a cynical moment. I'm sure it would never happen.......

I really do think we need to make a fuss about the way in which obstacles are placed in our way at every juncture. It just demonstrates the lack of political will amongst the councillors.
I can feel a letter to the paper coming on.

Its up next to Warndon woods and Hampson and the council have met a few times with the council saying they'll make sure that there's planning permission given. They want Perdiswell to disapear , thats the council and the football club, they don't want Perdiswell to keep on going.

It suggest that the quest for Council seats outweigh the good of the City - whilst dumping a development on another set of residents that won't see it coming. A bit like the stance Malvern Hills DC take on housing on their outer boundaries. Medici - can you PM me with fuller details with what you know please?

Hang on? Isn't the Planning Committee supposed to be 'independent' of political bias and decide planning applications purely on their merit so far as planning considerations are concerned? How on earth could the Council make sure an application is passed??? The whole thing stinks once again of backroom deals and corruption.

If that is the alternative site, is it the first field on the left hand side as you turn left after driving down from off the M5 ? ie over the road from St Nicholas Church. There were plenty of objections to GTech wanting to build nearby on the same side as the Church, so I can't see how the Council can guarantee planning permission.
As for the Planning Committee being " independent ", don't make me laugh ! They've been in the pocket of big builders / organisations for years. Why do you think that they all clamour to be on it ? I forgot, they're all well meaning civic minded individuals doing it for meagre expenses ! They chose when to follow the Planning Officers advice as and when for their political aims, with Worcester always being on a knife edge when elections are about. With Worcester being held to ransom by the two loony Greens, politics is played out with every decision. With a 5 Tory, 5 Labour, and 1 Green on it, how can it not be political ?
The proposed development for Middle Battenhall Farm summed it up perfectly. Tory stronghold, so the Planning Committee refuse it and were even willing to go to appeal, even though the Planning Officer recommended approval. They delay the SWDP to ensure that the land isn't included, hence Battenhall remains Tory. I struggle to think of any other major building application in Worcester that has ever been turned down. Think of all the other building that's gone on in Worcester - Ronkswood Hospital ( meant for light industrial use ! ), Faithful Overalls, Gwillams Farm, St Georges Lane, Froude Factory site, Kays site, back of Kilbury Drive, the tax offices on Whittington Road, Waitrose, anything to do with the University, etc etc. Not one murmur from the Planning Committee. Political ? just a bit !

If Hampson is against Perdiswell why doesn't he say so and explain his reasons? If alternative sites are being considered why aren't they discussed? Why is everything decided behind closed doors?
It smacks of endless corruption. They're just kicking our once proud club around to make more and more dodgy deals.

`The GTec Stadium`sounds good to me - particularly if you can pursuade our neighbours to pay for it to be built. And handle the Planning procedure !

Yes, that's a good idea, when things get tough, the best thing to do is quit. When there's a barrier in the way, don't bother working hard and figuring a way round it, let's just give up because its easier. When the city planners say "We need to see an update to the ecological report" Do we a) provide an update to the ecological report? or b) withdraw the complete application, and go home? Imagine if the FCUM Supporters Trust were that lily livered? When Manchester City Council pulled out of their proposed Newtown Heath development in 2010, maybe they should have given up hey? I mean, why carry on? Why not take the easy option and all go home instead?

It would be off Newtown Road where the John Lewis development was going to be. If there was plenty of parking for use by the office workers up by the hospital on weekdays then locals may well support it. Parking issues are a big problem and solving them would be a vote winner

Good points Brookside, but the big difference is FCUM were not opposed by a majority of Manchester councillors - or a very active Green Party (with elected councillors in Worcester - unlike Manchester where there are no Green councillors). BTW the Greens will never back down over Perdiswell, they are a very bitter and twisted bunch, who could not give a dam about WCFC or their (mainly) working class supporters.

We have no idea what the make up of the city council will be in 2 or 3 years time. The Greens may have moved on to other more important wards than St Stephens. They don't care about Perdiswell, they care only about where they can grab a seat or two. As the Supporters Trust have always said, we do this one step at a time, first step is the planning application. If planning is refused, we consider an appeal. If an appeal is turned down, thats the end of it. But if we get planning consent, we move on to the next step, which is negotiation, both with the football club and the city council. But for now, we eat the elephant one bite at a time, and we are only concerning ourselves with the planning application, and we sure as hell aren't quitting at first base!

Does the land in question belong to the amatuer Rugby Club (not Warriors land)? No its a bit further down the A440 on the map in ianhunts post and its owned by the council , and they have told Anthony Hampson that they'll get planning passed in less than two years. This is what Anthony Hampson told my friend anyway. He says that the ST are involved as well. I dont know why everyone is trying to keep this a secret when Anthony has already told people.

Hampson was on BBC H&W last week, and its obvious that he's losing, or lost , interest in Perdiswell. As far as I am aware, the Supporters Trust have not made any suggestion that Perdiswell is being scaled back. This is simply not true. If you click this link, and scroll forward to 2:33:57 , you'll hear what he has to say www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0517zz4The Supporters Trust are aware that these discussions have been going on, we are not part of these discussions, and our focus is, as it always has been, Perdiswell.

That land has been in the Local Plan as light industrial use since around 2000 or before. Be handy for me though as I live about 5 minutes walk from there. When people above have mentioned "Worcester Woods" this is Nunnery Wood and the land between Newtown Road and the Countryside Centre. But to be honest I think the connection between Hampson's mouth and his brain needs to be fixed. Loose Lips Sink Ships. In this case, HMS Perdiswell.

Interesting viewpoint "WHO" - but i think most of us on here will have a good idea of whose going to be running the show both nationally and locally after June 8th - and their main colour will be BLUE! The Greens may or may not have moved on by then, but remember Cllr. Neil Laurenson, only won ST Stephens won on the anti-football ground ticket. I lived next door to that ward (in Claines WARD) for almost 25 years, and i know many people there who just voted Green to keep the football ground out (normally they would vote Labour or Tory). You should also remember that Cllr. Laurenson is no fool, he does not live in ST Stephens ward or even near it (he lives by the Wheatsheaf pub in ST Johns.) Hes an opportunist (as most Greens are) and he will use this issue as long as he can to keep his seat and stay on the council. If you are prepared to stick at it for the long term and oppose people like Cllr. Laurenson on the Perdiswell ground issue, then good on you, I take my hat off to you.

Agreed, we know what it will be like after June 8th, but that's not of concern. The colour of government local and national makes no difference to the planning application, and that's our focus. There's no point in focussing on anything further afield, after all, next year Laurenson might win the lottery and buy a wind farm in Texas, who knows? National policy regarding sport and health might provide huge initiatives for councils to make land available for multi-purpose sporting hubs, who knows? Facebook might choose Worcester as their European technical development hub, but only on the understanding that Worcester has the facilities to provide a leading football team in the City, and they'll pay large windfall grants directly to the City Council? Marc Bayliss might change colour (not for the first time) and have an epiphany? A leading councillor might be found by a leading member of the Supporters Trust in a compromising position with an ostrich? You can't halt plans for the future because you don't like whats going on today. And one advantage of people being opportunists is that, sometimes you can offer them an opportunity that they find difficult to refuse!
