As we're in step 5 for 2017/18, this may or may not affect us ! Only we could have got relegated and asked for demotion at this precise moment ! www.stourbridgefc.com/news/all-change-for-201819-1800790.htmlAPOLOGIES - topic should have really been on City ( off the pitch ). Any admin person, please free free to move it.

But, given that "...Further down the pyramid, a total of 26 clubs will be promoted from Step 5 (equivalent level to the Midland League in our area), rather than the usual 14 clubs, to make up the required shortfall." doesn't that give us a good chance of moving back up a level after just one season?
Remember that we were playing at Step 2 by being invited on the basis of our results of the previous (three?) seasons.

Except we can't afford to play at Step 4.

Step 3 we cannot afford step 4 we can hence the voluntary demotion. Not much difference between Northern Prem Div 1 and Midland Prem from playing and financial standpoint.

Who knows what we can afford ?
I'm still waiting for the Chairman to call his AGM and reveal the details of the 2016 loss of 155k, and tell us the loss for 2017, so we all then know what we can afford ?

Step 3 , the Chairman says we will be gone within a year, so Step 4 we cannot afford, particularly as Step 4 would be after another year of at best break even.

The aim of these changes is to make steps 3 and 4 more geographically closer so cutting travel costs and increasing local games as at the moment Halesowen and Stourbridge are in a different league to Redditch and Stratford and Tiverton and Kings Lynn are in the same regional league! Also the other aim is to encourage North East clubs at step 5 to seek promotion as they felt that travelling to the outskirts of Manchester for league games was too onerous but were quite happy to hoover up the dosh from the FA Vase and trips to Wembley.
