A stark reality of the football business. And whether you like it or not, football is a business, and a pretty shonky one at that. It presents itself as being about playing a game and cheering on the lads, whilst the real deals are being made in the background, and often have nothing to do with football. The name of Clarke Osborne should bring shudders of fear and massive red flags to anyone in football, or in fact in any sport built around a substantial piece of land. In so many cases, the value of that land for alternative purposes far outweighs the playing of a game on the grass. This didnt used to be so much of an issue at non-league level, where there was still an element of community, but as the cost of playing the property game at league clubs has increased dramatically, the game has moved down to non-league level. If you want to know more about the shady business dealings in football, have a chat with Chris Green sometime, it's an eye opener. The present football model no longer works

Threats, blackmail, looking the other way whilst we get ripped off, Under the table handshakes, £20M deals (where we have ended up with nothing) - we've had the lot! Don't worry though, the FA have got it under control.

shonky
adjective 1. dishonest, unreliable, or illegal, especially in a devious way. "shonky political goings-on" noun 1. a person engaged in suspect business activities. "we need to rid the building industry of these shonkies quickly"
Nuff said?

Ok so the sale of SGL follows the same pattern as many of the disgraceful land grabs small clubs have been subjected to. But why are the perpetrators clinging on to the club? Are they still making money from the corpse? Or are they just covering their tracks, and hiding the evidence? Why don't they want others included in the running of the club? What's really going on?
