I do agree with the comment about the VG being like a morgue. It's felt that way pretty much all season to me and I can't say I'm enjoying the experience there. After the Lane and Aggborough it feels very much like the poor relation. Obviously it's up to us as supporters to generate some atmosphere and if that's not happening it's worth asking why and what can be done about it? One win in 8 home games is probably part of the reason, but not necessarily the only one. The Chairman in his programme notes on Saturday said that the ground share has proved to be successful. In terms of attendances - which have held up well - that is true I guess. Supporters have been remarkably loyal since 2013 but it is inevitable that there will be some moaning when performances are poor. Moaning about performances and lack of atmosphere are not the same thing however. It it worth starting a new thread on the VG experience what's good, what's bad, how could it be improved? Ju, what would be the point in a new thread ? (1) Moans and Groans about having a roof to generate noise....Carls comments sum that theory up well after the weekend, we had supporters in the covered end for the entire 90 minutes, admittedly more in the second half and (2)...and more importantly What cost will have to be incurred to improve the atmosphere at a ground we rent when we could in theory be out sooner than we all thought ? Maybe the group of lads could be encouraged to make more noise with the use of a drum ?

It's odd how all the negativity from the Board and main Shareholders regarding a community club is now being directed at us older supporters who remember the days when the club was progressive both on and off the field! Playing at VG is certainly a downward trend from SGL and Aggborough. Playing on a sloping pitch and with many matches being segregated to our detriment, where next, Malvern Town?
The general opinion of my fellow supporter friends is that we will see the club out until the bitter end, but we are not expecting more than a couple of years left.
If the vote had gone for a change of direction for a Community Club, then i'm sure every fan would have been trying their very best to create a winning atmosphere, but as things stand a further decline appears to be inevitable!

As I'm sure that most of you are aware, I'm a fan of Carl's as he's stuck with us when many would have walked away, under what have been very trying circumstances. He manages how he played.
What is always to his eternal credit is his refreshing honesty. Every interview, he never sugarcoats it, win or lose, and his comments after Saturday could have been lifted off this forum. We were second best, we all saw it, and so did he. He does his best with what he's got, he knows what's acceptable to the fans and what is unacceptable, and says it as it is. We can all argue about selections, tactics, players whatever, but we can never have questions about Carl's heart and commitment to the task. The same applies to Snapper. Whilst we feel disappointments as fans, so do they, as anyone who sat near them on Saturday can testify. They live and breathe it, and we are lucky to have them.

Carl is of course the jewel in the club, it's the Shareholder and Director mafia who are the problem, but with the misplaced power that they hold, nothing will ever change!

It's not the end of the world now - the sun will still come up tomorrow morning - it's only a morale-sapping home defeat in the most prestigious competition in which we play, but to blame supporters for not creating any atmosphere really takes the biscuit. What was there to cheer about?
Nowt.
What intrigues me is how on earth did we win 2-0 at Brackley a week or so ago?
What that match did prove is how good a player Alex Gudger is and how I wish he was still playing for us.

So if you can't cheer then you must attack and vilify players and question if they are good enough? Are we favorites for the league? I see away teams coming over and supporting those teams, I didn't hear Nuneaton having a go at their players when they were 1-0 down it was us getting on top of our lot whilst winning. They supported their team and that didn't go too badly for them.. We have a very young team and these players will find it harder to perform in this environment hence Carl stating at start of season we need to get behind them.

The question isn't if some are good enough. That question has already been answered. The more pertinent question is can we really expect anything better? In my opinion probably not.I'm amazed Carl gets any decent players to come to us? No money , no ground and very little future unless something changes pretty quickly!!
