WOEFUL PERFORMANCE. GOT EXACTLY WHAT WE DESERVED. NOT A SINGLE SHOT ON GOAL THE WHOLE 90 MINUTES.

Brackley wanted to win this, we seem to go through the motions(not very well). I don't even blame Boot. I can live with losing. I can live being knocked out of the cup, but when the team show no commitment, passion, skill or have a clue what they're supposed to be doing, then I get p^%$%d off

Yes woeful performance today, too many players having an off day. It happens.
But not helped by very poor support from the home crowd - never got behind the team once, and some of the negative shouts coming from the main stand beggar belief. Slagging the players off is not going to make them play better you know.

You had to be there to realise just how bad this was, painful to watch is an understatement, midfield non existent in the middle of the park, no pressing or urgency about our play, at times it resembled parks football with the standard of our passing, Brackley made things look easy in comparison & seemed to know how to find space and played around us with minimal effort needed, their keeper will never have an easier game than today if he plays till he's 50, hoping this is a wake up call to carl & co that certain players just aren't up to it & admit to themselves recruitment hasn't been the best this time around

It was truly awful. To not register a single shot is just deplorable. I don't mind losing, all I ask for is effort.

awful was being kind to the, they should hand their pay back as they did not deserve a penny except Jacko, he did show effort, as for negative shouts some of them deserved them especially English, Murphy, Boot, they were woefull, the others were not much better...as for effort i think most of them left it at home... there needs to be some big changes as we are paying for some real dross at this time...

Club goes 6 games unbeaten and then suffers two losses and it becomes player recruitment this and get rid of these guys etc... I noticed this last week when we were 1-0 up and we are getting on to the players for mistakes.. What are we doing to help the team? Create a pressured environment for them to play in? Who are we Man United? Sorry for the rant I really am an today was not good enough but I think to start saying players need to go is a bit extreme. Let's try getting behind them when they make mistakes and lift them an try making it harder for the opposition who come to our place instead of helping them out..

Well, that's Hampson's "plan B" of winning the FA Cup in tatters!
The lads were, indeed, dire. Again, what tactics were we deploying? No wide men and hopeful balls upfield (which were won 90+% of the time by Brackley) aren't going to get us anywhere.
Brackley were good all round (although as their keeper never had a shot, or threat, to deal with it's hard to judge - but he had a nice clean kit), they had men out wide, passed the ball around with ease as there was no pressing from us. By contrast, Brackley seemed to be on us as soon as we got the ball and at times (quite a lot) they actually anticipated our pass and intercepted quite easily.
Definitely no passion (Jacko excluded) and heads dropped once we went behind. Hughes got booked late on (was it for his one and only foul?) as a result, in my opinion, of a culmination of him trying to 'claim' a foul against him every time he lost possession - the ref had seen enough.
Boston, here we come.
Dodger.

The heads dropping after going one down can't have been helped by the negativity from the stand. The opposition must love it when they hear our fans getting on the back of the players. Get behind the team, especially when they are struggling, that is called support.

........The opposition must love it when they hear our fans getting on the back of the players........ Indeed, that is very true.......... and there was one guy (somewhere near the food stand/south end) berating the lads as soon as the first pass of the match went astray! Dodger.

There was no need for some of the shouting, but do we really sign players who are so delicate that they can only play well when they are being cheered?

I get the feeling that some supporters have been so worn down by recent events that they simply don't have the heart at the moment. Maybe that spark will return, but it's a bit chicken and egg - will making more noise improve things on the field, or does it need some inspiration on the pitch to get the fans singing?
Those of us who remember spectating at the Lane will recall that it was commonplace to hear fans moaning, even when things were going okay. I don't recall that happening so much at Kidderminster - maybe it was part of the "Aggborough experience."

I think these are 4 that stand out to me as well, unfortunately I think 2 of them are on contracts, being English and Batchelor. I understand the logic in adding 'steel' to our midfield but these guys can't actually play football, English in particular just jumps in to people and has no positional awareness whatsoever. Gallinagh is an experienced head, and at times reads the game well, but ultimately age is catching up with him and he's too slow to be a right back and is also crap in the air. And City fans have always been on the players backs, that's nothing new. Happened at SGL, and at Aggborough, and will continue at the Victoria Ground. I have noticed its mainly a certain demographic (*cough* concessions *cough*), and much like most things at the City, will never change.

Out thought, out fought, out classed, out passed, ..........the only other " out " missing from yesterday was Hampson and Layland resigning !
It was a truly dreadful performance. Keane going off and the shape instantly went. Brackley had done their homework, doubled up on Steele from the start which nullified our attacking threat, pressed us in midfield which magnified our lack of pace, control, and passing ability, made sure that their dead ball delivery tested the keeper and centre halves, put someone quick up against Gallinagh, kept the ball well and moved us side to side all around the pitch.
We were second best all afternoon, we resorted to hitting long balls to a tall defence who won everything in the air, we were beaten to the ball time after time, and defensively we were a shambles. I felt sorry for Hughes and Bishop who received little decent service, as it was usually two foot over their heads. No shots at all is disgraceful.
Not sure why Nelson - Addy didn't start, as at least he gives you energy in the middle, and can join the forwards. Jacko tried hard, and has got 70 minutes in him, but has to have " legs " alongside him. English was two yards off the pace, and had the runaround all afternoon, before being replaced by Batchelor who is even slower, and who also is never going to create or score a goal. Murphy is a shadow of his former self, looking heavy around the backside, and has lost his pace and confidence. The defence made the customary mistakes, but Brackley cut through us time after time and it could have been 5 or 6.

My usual response to a setback is to try and find something positive to say, on this occasion I can't and the above is a devastatingly accurate analysis of the worst performance I have yet seen from a team in City colours.

Very good points mentioned, we definitely need to offer more of an attacking threat than just Steele and when people double up on him this should create space for others around the team to capitalize on.

I like to think I am a 'glass half full' person but after yesterday's game I thought I would leave it 24 hours before commenting. Everything mentioned above is accurate. I think Hughes sliced shot minutes from the end constituted our only shot. Their keeper wearing an off-white kit left the pitch spotless. Aside from a spell where we forced 3 consecutive corners, his only duty was to catch the last one.
I have followed the City for approx 50 years and this must be one of the most disappointing displays in exiting the FA Cup.
So to look positively I hope we can now 'concentrate on the league' and when the season finishes I hope we can look back on this performance as the low point of the season.

A shocking performance and underlines the poor recruitment in the pre season, Gallinaugh, English, Batchelor, Bishop and Murphy are not good enough to play at this level. Brackley done their homework on us and stopped the threat from us, they beat us tactically, and out played us all over the pitch. Urgent action is required to address the problem areas in the right back department, midfield and someone up front to partner Lee Hughes. I agree with most of the comments on this topic and the shouts from the main stand at certain players is down to frustration of the performances of these players and the public have a right to voice their views. I am not enjoying the Bromsgrove experience and many performances like this one will see the crowds drop to a alarming level. I am hoping Carl and Snapper can sort things out before our trip next Saturday at Boston United. Anyone know why Nelson Addy didn't get on the pitch second half, maybe the fallout from the Nuneaton game ?.

The public do have a right to express their view, but they can't expect negative comments to encourage better performances. That same team were exceptional in beating Brackley on their own turf.
You can talk all you like about recruitment of players but the reality is we shop in the bargain bins at Aldi and Lidl, when others can afford the luxury of shopping at Waitrose. Fylde for example have just paid £70k for a player. It means our performances are always going to be inconsistent.

Our manager is saying the fans have moaned for 20 years about players, so nothing has changed their going back to the 80s at SGL. He said the ground was like a morgue , no wonder the fans were quiet with nothing to get excited about, not a shot on goal in ninety minutes. Like you have said we are not a money bags club like Fylde, but its about putting a squad together with the budget available and some of the players recruited are not up to this level.

www.worcesternews.co.uk/sport/14777709.City_boss__Fans_had_right_to_moan_but_home_ground_can_be_like_a_morgue/?ref=mr&lp=10Carl is right, moaning doesn't help, but Saturday was that dreadful, there was literally nothing to be positive about. The home crowd was silent despite having the covered end ! At least that's that theory busted then ! Outplayed from start to finish, with the whole team having an off day. The last 2 years FA Cup runs have spoilt us, as I've seen far more FA Cup performances like last Saturday's than good ones, in all my years watching. League status is all that matters now, and any run in the FA Trophy.

Downthelane is quite correct, maybe its time for another reality check. We have to bring in players from the reduced price aisle at Aldi and Lidl, or consider those that Aldi and Lidl won't even put on the shelf. The club struggles to afford the quality of player needed for this league. What we do have is a manager capable of motivating players to play at a higher level of performance, but they can't do that every game (or they genuinely would be better quality players) and we can just hope that enough will raise their game at the same time and it comes off. Saturday unfortunately the players played to their potential. The bigger concern now is, how are we going to strengthen the squad for the rest of the year? Unlike the last two seasons, we won't have the benefit of Cup money to prop us up both on and off the pitch.

I do agree with the comment about the VG being like a morgue. It's felt that way pretty much all season to me and I can't say I'm enjoying the experience there. After the Lane and Aggborough it feels very much like the poor relation.
Obviously it's up to us as supporters to generate some atmosphere and if that's not happening it's worth asking why and what can be done about it? One win in 8 home games is probably part of the reason, but not necessarily the only one. The Chairman in his programme notes on Saturday said that the ground share has proved to be successful. In terms of attendances - which have held up well - that is true I guess. Supporters have been remarkably loyal since 2013 but it is inevitable that there will be some moaning when performances are poor.
Moaning about performances and lack of atmosphere are not the same thing however. It it worth starting a new thread on the VG experience what's good, what's bad, how could it be improved?

Things could have been so different if the Chairman had supported the Trust's proposal to change the constitution, I for one and many others would have been happy to involve myself in all of things that are required to generate revenue and in turn fund better players which creates a better winning atmosphere. Unfortunately that opportunity has now gone and all we are faced with is a slow decline towards the inevitable death of the Club. The hint of a move to Sixways will do nothing for the long term survival and you think VG is soulless believe me having watched City play Runcorn when they were ground sharing it was even worse. Is it too late for the Board to rethink they made the wrong decision in supporting opposition to the Trust, or will they 'man up'and re introduce the same proposals with their support. A Trust run Club is the only way to reinvigorate any support and enthusiasm before its demise.
