Granville Palin, who made 74 first team appearances (7 goals) for City between 1964 and 1965, has sadly passed away.
Born in Doncaster, Granville was signed by Wolverhampton Wanderers as a professional in 1957. He moved onto Walsall in 1960 and came here in the summer of 1964. City manager Bill Jones made him captain but after a shock defeat at Dudley Town in the F.A. Cup 2nd qualifying round, Granville was dropped and transfer listed. He managed to regain his place but after being dropped again in early December 1965 Granville finally left Worcester for Stourbridge in January 1966. He went onto enjoy a long career as both a player and a manager.
His son Leigh, who was born in Worcester, was a professional footballer in the 80s and 90s.

I can remember him playing: does that date me? It does indeed, Tim! But no harm in that. I think you need a formal designation for this forum. Perhaps "Sage" or "Patriarch"? What do you think?

I can remember him playing: does that date me? The fact you can remember is a good sign!
