For me there should be no question about taking the armband away from Danny Jackman. He was inspired once he became captain. We need to show some loyalty.

This saddens me. Carl hasn't said Jacko won't be captain, this is idle and unnecessary press speculation. Pre-season friendly games are for trying out players. Carl knows what Jacko is about, and he captained the games in which he started. Hutch was the obvious choice where Jacko didn't start. But now we have the media speculating that there's going to be a change, running stories to that effect and even doing a bullsh!t poll. Doubly saddening because Jacko has been typically open and honest in giving the paper lots of copy, and is probably feeling a bit betrayed at the moment.
Geoff - don't get on the wrong side of the players and managers, else your job will become much more difficult pretty quickly and you'll find yourself missing out on scoops.

I like the increased coverage of the City, and generally its pretty good. However, idle speculation and stories for stories sake aren't helping anyone at the moment. Geoff, please stick to what you are good at - reporting the facts.

Sorry to those who were against my poll idea. I just thought it was a good chance to gauge fans' opinion, especially when Carl Heeley said there were a "number of characters" with "captain material" and he had not "fully discussed" who would be skipper. If he had told me Jackman would be the captain, then end of discussion. Anyway, for those who are interested, here's the result of the online poll... www.worcesternews.co.uk/sport/14649215.POLL_RESULT__Jackman_should_retain_City_captaincy/

Being "captain material" doesn't mean you are necessarily a candidate. Ideally you'd have a team of eleven potential captains, they're the sort of character you want in a team.

No issue with asking a question in my opinion.

I like many others would not have voted on a speculation that the manager did not need. Like others my opinion is that the management team & players should not be exposed to this sort of negative exposure.

Blimey, we do have some sensitive touchy feely souls on here ! Negative exposure ? Do me a favour. If our players and manager are that thin skinned ( which I strongly doubt ) and think that this is negative, then we really are in trouble if we have a bad run of results !
As Geoff says, if Carl had said that Danny Jackman was going to be the captain, then there was no discussion. Speculating about who may be the Captain is the least of my WCFC worries.

Well said, all Geoff is doing is using his journalistic nouse, i think talking to a few fans at Bromsgrove that the result of the poll are the same, Geoff does a great job in both reporting of matches, getting information on things that are happening on & off the pitch & is always available to supporters if they want to discuss issues, keep up the great work...

English started the game today as captain, but Hutch took over when he came on at half time, whilst both still playing - so I think we might well have our answer to who will be captain right there.
I'm a little gutted for Jacko if the case as he certainly seems to love being captain, and I think he's done well in the role. Football is I suppose a cruel game at times.

I can only assume he isn't planning on starting DJ as much this term. If he signs a few wide players he will go back to playing two centre midfielders, one being English and either Gater or Fitzpatrick. DJ might be more of a utility player this season as opposed to a guaranteed starter in midfield.
