Kicked off 2 minutes ago vs Stourport Swifts.
Have got the team for this afternoon, had a quick nose at who was on trial...
1. Leighton Smith (GK, released from Birmingham City academy this year) 2. Andy Gallinagh (DF, captained Bath City last season) 5. Ben Priest (DF, was at Dundee FC) 11. Michael Taylor (!!!!!!) 28. Alex Connell (GK, released from Haverfordwest County in Welsh Premier) 12. Rhys Thompson (DF, was at Chasetown, apparently signed him months ago!) 18. Brad Williams (no idea, Google throws up nothing) 21. Chekane Steele (MF, released by Port Vale this year) 23. Cordell White (no idea) 24. Dave McDermott (Used to be with us a few seasons ago, hasn't had a club since??!)
No George Nash, Alun Webb, Ward-Cochrane in the squad this afternoon. Kieron Morris will play however.

Finding it impossible to muster up a single s***. I get why it's easy to feel like that, but you can still support the team whilst not supporting the club. Carl and the boys don't deserve to suffer due to the actions of a few beret-wearing morons sat in the director's box... (Un)fortunately my love of average non-leaue football eclipses my hatred for certain board members at the moment. Which rather tragically shows you how much I love football!

It was an alright game - bit of a typical preseason. Carl didn't seem over impressed by trialists. The one that stood out for me was McDermott, who sadly pulled up, was stretchered off, suspected double hamstring injury.

For some people it's about supporting the football club of Worcester, players and managers (even King Carl) come and go but the club is what it's all about and right now that club (OUR club) is being left to die by the people running it.

Considering he left City 2 years ago, where on earth has he been plying his trade in the intervening years? Not good news about the trialists, was hoping for some bright sparks to be unearthed. Only 12 players signed on, 3 of which are from the academy so must have a bit of money left in the budget to spend?

Bright side of things: Bates seems to be half decent at corners - better than what we've had the last few years certainly. Shapres goal was probably going in before he headed it home! Micheal Taylor has said he wants to give Carl something to think about, felt like he should have scored today, but will try again Tuesday if chosen. Thompson looked alright, nothing spectacular, but could do a job for us imo. Perry was good to lay the ball off of, needs match fitness though.
Of course - it was just one preseason game where most played 45 minutes. I'll hopefully be at the Tuesday game, and of course Villa to continue assessing them all.
Note for the Villa game - they've sold 700 (i think) online tickets, imagine a fair few more on the day, so might be best to get there early as I think there's only 2 turnstiles (if both are open).

Not worth a new thread, but I see that Jordan Murphy ( and Thommo ) played a half for Kidderminster in their 1-1 draw away at Stratford Town

No worries.... ; ) Tbh I didn't realise you'd gone to such lengths before I started looking into all those names myself. Hopefully I'll find out a bit more about them tonight.

Matt birley on the bench! Michael Taylor....David McDermott. Really?! Can't imagine Birley or Taylor are anywhere near the required standard these days.

It's likely that we are simply giving them an opportunity for a run, not looking to sign them or anything. New trialists this evening are: James Chambers (retired from professional football in 2015 while with Walsall to focus on business interests) Jordan Wilson (released from Shrewsbury Town academy this year) Nick Draper (Alfreton Town's No 2 last season) No Rhys Thompson or Ben Priest tonight. Andy Gallinagh, Brad Williams and Alex Connell all involved again. Anyone know where Gater, Bachelor and Waldron are? Holiday?

1-1, wilson with our goal I believe, and a great one at that!
Birley as an attacking mid looked decent! Perry needs to lose half a stone Imo.
Edits now I'm home: The good(ish): Birley has lost weight, and looked better than what I've seen from geddes so far, Our number 2 from Bath City looked lost trying to play as a wing-back, but would make good fullback as a 4 defensively in my eyes. Jamie Smith put a few good balls in the box when he came on - I'd quite like to see him have a shot as a left midfielder for us this season, has a fair bit of pace, has height, can hit a beautiful long ball at times. Hutch looked a little slow at times, I think he needs some game time to get sharp. Sharpe meanwhile looked good as ever to me.
The Bad(ish): Jacko annoyed me, always passing back, and passing behind the player, not in front - it slowed play far too much. Geddes hasn't impressed, Perry needs to lose weight, we don't have much width, Ologu always seems to make the wrong choice when under pressure and hasn't convinced me enough for a contract going from last season and this preseason.

Agree Birley has lost a lot of weight and looked useful. Not sure what he would add ahead of Geddes mind but good back up. Based on tonight I would sign Chambers and Wilson as soon as possible. None of the others really hit the mark.

Ah yes, I forgot to mention Chambers - looked decent enough, gives us an experienced head to add to the defence, which should look rather well filled out by then.

None of the others really hit the mark. We don't need any more centre midfielders unless we really are going to play a diamond and stick to it for the whole season. If Bromsgrove is a narrow pitch that could be the plan?
Chambers is 35 but was playing professionally in League 1 a year ago so not surprised he impressed. I am guessing he is a Lee Hughes connection since they would have been together at Albion. Having 2 ex-premier league players would be invaluable.
Jamie Smith has always looked exciting to me, I am not sure on his defensive capabilities but he does have that fearlessness about him going forward, I would really like to see him given a chance this year.
Doesn't surprise me the two from Bath City are no good - they almost went down last year in National South which from watching highlights of a few games looks a far inferior league to National North.
Would really like some signings soon, its been 5 weeks since the last one!

Geoff, if you speak to Carl after the match can you please ask him what has happened to George Nash, Ben Ward Cochrane and Alun Webb? We have heard nothing about them but they haven't appeared in preseason. I suspect they have been released... Also have we signed Kieron Morris back on for another season? And where has Ologu gone? Cheers Geoff.

Alun Webb has signed for Rhyl, i presume this is until he goes to America, to further his career... i think he has let Ologu go, he has not given the lad enough time on the field... George i think has had enough & stayed at Banbury... Ben no idea with what has happened to him... Carl needs to sort a team out rapid otherwise we are screwed, & his saying the problem with getting players is due to the upheval at top level, he must remember he supported their ways at the EGM first meeting & was doing training on the big night, would love to know who or what he voted for...

Well, that was by no means a brilliant games, but it was positive play, none of the players looked terrible, defended well, passed well, attacking edge still needs to be sharpened, but some good points to build on.
We certainly need to sign the guy from Walsall who retired from full time football, he was by far the best player on the pitch. The nippy number 7 trialist looked decent too!
On that performance I'll bump my predicted 'goals for the season' total from 25 up to a dizzying height of 32.
