I have just realised today that I only have twelve working days left till retirement - and one of those is a day's holiday!
That leaves me with a difficult question: shall I take the day's holiday at the end and retire a day early? Or should I take a long weekend before retiring to gird my loins for the farewell party? (?What farewell party).

Are you hoping that your loins will require girding before your farewell? Its sound like quite an event if that is true?

My loins require a lot of girding these days, not to mention a blue pill or two.
Seriously I cannot imagine anything worse than a farewell party; parties are just not my thing, and I've only worked for my current employer for 2½ years, so I don't think I'll be getting a "do" thank God.

This has really depressed me realising how many years I have left to work.
I suppose it depends if you work for the government etc you can retire early but the rest of us in the real world will have to work forever (without the enhanced or protected pension!!), and the poor youngsters will probably have to work till they are 70+
What are you going to do in your retirement Tim?

Gardening, looking after my grandchildren and my hens (in that order I suspect), watching football, bell-ringing, days out on the train, pub lunches now and again, building that model railway I got so far with but not far enough, ten years worth of decorating, waiting on aged parents.....is that enough?
How do I find time to go to work?
