Cracking game: cracking result. Every player put their heart and soul into the game (and that applies to both sides) and the result was a fascinating contest.
1st half much better than the second, where City seemed content to sit deep and defend. My MOM would have to be Alex Gudger, who was immense. With the preferred centre-back partnership of Thomas and Sharpe unavailable, Gudger and Morris made a fist of it against a very lively BPA forward line. After BPA's equaliser we seemed to lose our momentum for 15 minutes but Nti put us back in front and Hughes followed up his first goal with a second of the highest quality.
A very hard fought victory, a lot closer than 3-1 suggests.
A word for Bradford who chased and chased all night. Had they been more clinical in front of goal we could easily have lost the game. Their No 10 (Mottley-Henry, on loan from Bradford City) was a real handful.
Still, that win takes us up to 14th and suddenly we find ourselves in front of Gloucester! Another 3 points on Saturday against Stockport should see us safe.

A game wrapped up at the halfway mark! two instinctive goals by Lee Hughes and a cracker of a free kick from about 25 yards by Nti to secure the win, only slightly tarred by an overhead goal for BPA!
First half we were on top for large parts, and played some nice smooth flowing football, in the short moments that BPA had on top it was easy to entertain ourselves by poking fun at their (assistant?) manager, who kept on making his technical area 8 yards bigger than it actually is, and applauding his team, even when they were doing terrible (that one shot from directly in front of goal that ended up near the corner flag was a particular highlight).
Second half fell a little flat as City were focused on keeping the two goal lead, rather than chasing for a fourth goal, though there were still a couple of half chances. BPA attacked more in the second, but a mostly strong defence and some fine keeping by Vaughan brought City through.
I felt before tonight that Gater had been a little off form recently, gifting Ferriby a goal, looking out of place at left back before that, and before even that thought he wasn't doing much in midfield. Glad to say I was well wrong prematch to moan about him starting, he was probably our best outfield player on the night, running well with the ball, chasing players and picking out a few top passes.
Vaughan would be my man of the match, as someone said on here last week ''it's easy this goalkeeping lark'' - Nathan certainly makes it look easy! Much prefer him over the lad we had from Cheltenham.
Finally I think Morris deserves praise, he's been a fringe player all season, but looked calm and composed in defence tonight, rarely making an error. I would find it hard to decide if Kieran or the ever reliable Alex Gudger had the better game. If we keep him on next season, I can see him developing into an incredible defender.
Onwards and upwards, City now sit 14th in the league, above Gloucester due to goal difference. Finally the world feels right again! Another 3 points on Saturday would be smashing!

Excruciatingly painful second half, we were so deep but after chucking away a two goal lead on Saturday I can't blame them.
Two great finishes from Hughes and a decent free kick but their keeper should have done better with all three, in no man's land for both Hughes goals and beaten at near post for the free kick.
For all the stick I have given Sam Minihan he was very good this evening, as was Tyler Weir. Gudger and Morris had a dodgy first half, three times their number 9 was unmarked in the box. Fortunate to go in with a 2 goal cushion.
Missed Shaun Donellan's tenacity tonight I felt, Gater and Jacko looked scared to put a tackle in at times. Need to take a leaf out of Tyler Weir's book.
Ref was again terrible, I just expect it nowadays. Their manager was good value, it was entertaining me how far he could come out of his technical area - making it 5 yards on the pitch was a good achievement...
Well battled, need to keep the momentum going now for Saturday.

Agree with both of the above postings. Hughes clinical in front (or should that be to the side) of goal. There have been many occasions in times gone by where similar chances would have failed to trouble the opposition. We needed the 2 goal cushion as Bradford were lively throughout and posed a constant threat going forward. Vaughan pulled off several top saves to keep them out and all the team put their body on the line. Bradford did not help their cause by regularly running offside much to the relief of City fans and players. Still very tight, a win can propel you up 4 or 5 places, and goal difference looking to be the best of the teams in the bottom half. Hopefully Sean Donellan will be back to strengthen the squad on Saturday,

I don't really have a problem with management making their area a foot or two bigger than it is, but he really did push it, and the linesman, who is meant to also act as the fourth official in such circumstances had no backbone about it. He laughed it off time and time again until the crowd turned on him for not controlling his eagerness to get on the pitch. The most he did though was point at the area.
As for the ref, I'd say he was rather good for our level, which doesn't really say much.

Thanks for the match reports that reflected Geoff’s Worcester News feed. I was more nervous than usual going into this match as BPA is the one team we have not played this season, they are the only team with games in hand over City, they look to be in a ”false” league position and it was a midweek game. “Chances win matches” and City took theirs. Having surrendered a two-goal advantage on Saturday it must have been a nervous second half. Thanks for all the comments on individual players they are very useful. Finally, a word on Tyler Weir’s instant return to the team after two months away – terrific.

It could/should have been all square at the break - the game was far from wrapped up at half time! I think the balance of play was pretty even first half, BPA looked a lot more dangerous than you have made them out to be.
Morris didn't look that comfortable either, he got turned easily a couple of times and didn't clear his lines as effectively as Gudger. He is an adequate squad player at the moment but he needs to bulk up a bit for this league, and improve the way he reads the game. He's only 19 though so plenty of time, although I think 'incredible' is probably stretching it...

Very entertaining match on the whole - on a lovely evening to watch a game. Good finish from the Freekick and the lob from Hughes - hopefully we can build on this good run and secure safety for next season.
One small downside again - and that was the behaviour of some of the "Youth" at the end of the game. I was down by the pie van and heard a bunch of them who were stood next to the hoardings discussing the best and easiest way to get onto the pitch at the end of the game without being stopped.
Thankfully it looked as if someone else heard as well and reported it to the stewards nearby - they soon buggered off out of the ground 5 minutes early when they realised they'd been rumbled by the stewards. Sadly - the verbal abuse they gave to the person who reported them as they were scuttling off was unsavory and not needed at all.
I just hope that the plans for the Stockport game on Saturday are going to be robust or I fear we could have trouble in and around the game as intelligence suggests that Stockport are going to have a couple of similar groups travelling as well...

Well, we went in at halftime 3-1 and went in at full time 3-1. Of the first 45, I'd have said City were on top for about 30 of them. BPA had a couple of spells of dominance, like just before their goal, but not much.
As for Morris, yes he did get turned a couple of times but kept BPA honest to say the least. The reason I singled him for praise was because all our other players are used to the physicality of this league, he's still learning it, and I don't think he did a bad job against a decent team. I said if we keep him he could develop into an incredible defender, not that he is one currently. Perhaps I should have said incredible for our level. Not going to be a Kompany now, is he.

I watched Chorley v Stockport earlier in the season. Stockport brought around 3-400 (for a night came not bad). As far as I could tell, no hooligan types with them - just a good bunch of lads, who have stuck with their team through and thin (mostly thin!). BTW - what was the attendence last night ? And how many did BPA bring ?

434 at the game, a guesstimate of 15-20 PA fans would be fair I think.

how can you make such a remark about how other people see a game when you make this statement

without doubt Sam is the most improved player in our squad, not including loan players,

It was a fairly even game to my eyes, the difference was that we took our chances and they missed theirs ! Having just watched the highlights, both sides had plenty of chances, but the chance their no.9 missed at 1-1 was a sitter and may have been crucial. They also missed several other good chances, whereas Hughes finishes and Nti's free kick were all very good. I thought that Bradford played their part in an entertaining game, as did the ref who tried to play advantage as much as possible. A valuable 3 points.

I shouldn't say this really but... With all the trouble and the bad name these 25 or so scrotes are giving the club, in a time when we need the most positive publicity possible, I wouldn't be at all disappointed if the Stockport fans did give them a pasting. Hopefully they would never then return, even with a gate of 400 midweek, we don't need them. I saw there was something on the Solihull Moors forum after the recent game about this mob attacking their fans. I can't believe they are still getting in the stadium, we must know who they are by now?!

Well actually they had a chat with 5 officers from West Mercia Police last night and the matter is in hand.
Both parties saying that the other caused the trouble at the station and the Police are obtaining the CCTVG to help us identify who was in the wrong.
I won't go into it on here but the group are soon to be served with an ABA.

Just watched the highlights (very unbiased I must say) and I've got to say a big thank you to Bradford PA for some shocking defending and some equally appalling finishing. A win is a win is about all I can say.

Most of them seem nice enough, just a little overexcited perhaps. They really want to support this club, not another. Lets not be hasty in how to deal with some of their antics, or we could well lose a generation of supporters.
