That was my first league game since the last day a SGL and what a game to pick. I thought it was going to be dreadful. It was as good as anything you could watch anywhere. Stand out player for me was Jordan Murphy. We should have scored 4 more goals but I'm not complaining. Fantastic entertainment. I hope it encourages you to come back! We're at 'home' again on Saturday 6th Feb, against Alfreton (9th in the league). And If we beat Alfreton and results go our way we can be upto 9th ourselves!

Having been hammered by them In the past I posted that it was a good job we hadn't played the whole of Ferriby. Perhaps we could now take them on?

Worth noting Alfreton will be playing us after a 2-2 home draw against Nuneaton yesterday, and then what should be a tough away game for them to Curzon Ashton on Monday. You'd like to think we'll be a little more well rested, Lee Hughes should be back fit and the team buzzing - can someone please lower my expectations for me?

In my excitement yesterday I forgot to mention that the team were very 'disciplined' throughout i.e. well behaved, and got on with the game and let the ref referee i.e. no visible dissent. Could this be attributed to the captain? It could have been because we were 2 up early on.
It was refreshing to see the City get the ball forward quicker, with Murphy, Nti and Bakayoko having pace to burn it was great to see them given the opportunity to run at their defence.

The discipline was certainly a lot better yesterday, with Captain Jackman in charge of his troops. A prouder man could not have been found to lead out the team, and to lead by example. Delighted for him. His grandad would have been so proud.
As simples states, getting the ball forward quickly was a feature of our play with the ball carrying ability of Jordan Murphy showing the way, as he turned his full back inside and out all day. Connor Gater also moved the ball quickly, and with pace up front we could have scored another 3 or 4. The desire ran throughout the team, and to beat the 2nd in the table side so comfortably was a tremendous effort.

Boy oh boy did I enjoy that win! I even managed to sneak on to the pitch and return the ball to Nathan Vaughan - my moment of glory.
Straight out of the starting blocks and on with the business; that's what I like to see and once Ferriby had conceded you just felt this was going to go our way. I thought Tom Sharpe was excellent; he just gets quietly on with his job and makes very few mistakes. Stick him alongside Thomas or Gudger and you've got the basis of a really good defence.
My only complaint would be that we should have won 4 or 5-nil had we taken our chances. By the way - how did that shot of Nti's manage to hit the post and NOT go in? I was already on my feet cheering the goal. Worth mentioning Bakayoko too, who had an excellent game (apart from the ones he missed) and rightly got a standing ovation from the stands when he was subbed. Jordan Murphy is just magic - so exciting to watch. Even better than Dunkley for my money.
Don't let's get carried away though; as Corby proved anyone can beat anyone in this league.
Solihull Moors must be very happy with us taking six points off the teams just below them.

As North Ferriby were thanking us last week for beating Fylde, it's now Fylde's turn to thank us for beating Furby.
On the discipline front, I'm putting the improvement down to the referee. I thought he had a good game and didn't seem to feel the need to 'blow' at every opportunity. It's poor refereeing that upsets players as well as fans.
Having said that, of course, we were well on top and therefore seemed to play with plenty of freedom.
