I've watched about 15 or 16 games so far this season and Ellis Deeney looks tired,lethargic and uninterested and a couple of games rest might help him.
A couple of months ago we were saying the same about Geddes.
Our biggest problem is still scoring,only 3 goals in the last 4 games against poor opposition.
A quick summary of this;
Gloucester away, we bombarded their goal in the first half but failed to score,however in a quiet second half we did nick a goal 2 minutes from time to take the points.
Brackley at home was just an awful goal less draw from 2 awful sides.
Gloucester at home,despite the shocking refereeing,we started off alright,failed to capitalize on our slender lead and then fizzled out.The one thing that amused me about this game was the Gloucester supporters flag which read ....throwing pies since 2013.
Corby at home,75 minutes of utter dross until we woke up.A fantastic goal by Donnelly who was probably our best player on the day.
We never seem to get the ball out to the wings quickly enough.There's too much midfield play and not enough width,with the exception of the first half away at Gloucester when Dunkley tore their right back to shreads. Against Corby,Minihan had made himself some space and wanted the ball across to him,but it never got there.
With only 3 points separating the teams 15th down to 21st in the league we really ought to be beating the sides around us.
With you all the way on this Simon, just cannot understand why others don't agree with the Ellis part even the management cannot seem to see it or was that the understanding on Saturday with substitution, & again i say it he just walked away from the game down the tunnel, not team or captain minded...
i keep chirping on about not using the wings often enough especially when we have two attacking fullbacks (Wier & Minihan) & when both wingers (Nti & Dunkley) are on we have all the width required & speed & with a cracking midfield if the right players were used we should be seeing different results. onwards & upwards should be the team call, we are so much better than the place we occupy but just don't seem to get there...
