Cant believe im posting this...
Worcester City FC have this morning concluded a deal to sell Sean Geddes back to Stourbridge FC,
The club will receive a nominal four figure transfer fee plus a 15% sell on clause should he move on again.
Stourbridge made an enquiry around 3 weeks ago for the player and after discussions taking place between Sean and the management team it was decided that the deal would be the best for all parties.
The football club have to operate prudently in our financial outlay and with Sean being at the higher end of the pay scale this also had to be carefully considered.
Joint Manager Carl Heeley said “discussions have taken place and Sean subsequently advised me on Sunday evening that after speaking with his father he wanted me to complete the deal to allow him to leave as he just wanted to play football. Football has become more of a squad game and we cannot guarantee anyone that they will play every game as teams are selected on merit, availability and rotation depending on the circumstances for each game.
Sean has not been able to replicate the magnificent form of last season when he gave us all some of the best memories in modern times, something that we will never forget and I am sure his name will stay a permanent fixture in the clubs history books.
We would like to thank Sean for all of his efforts whilst at Worcester City FC and wish him well for his future career

Must admit same here - Sean is a talented player but I'm afraid hasn't been consistent for many months . Suprised it isn't a loan even to end of season but I'm guessing as his contract runs out then and in view that he won't be offered the same money it makes sense to all parties

Is anyone even surprised?...
He's had a really bad attitude this season. An incredible talent, just not the attitude to back it up. Obviously, a few weeks on the bench got him where it hurt....the ego.

There might be a few more leaving as I hear we have to cut the wage bill.very worrying if so. Again, maybe someone from my he club could announce something on the website.

Surprised no... i had said a few times i wondered what Sean would do with being left on the bench, but with his attitude on the pitch & his lack of form no wonder, i think he has made this decision without fully thinking it out, its a backward step on his side but think it is a positive step for the club, got some cash, reduced the wage bill & yes lost a talent but he was not preforming... best of luck Sean & maybe once you get yourself back on track the doors might open again...

Firstly I would like thank Sean for the memories last season and wish him well on his return home to Stourbridge Fc, and will be playing regular first team football. When someone posted he has heard a player is the club, I posted as my guess it was Sean Geddes, and I am not really surprised by this as he hasn't been happy not being selected for the side. This season he has struggled to rediscover last seasons form and frustration has resulted in two sending offs and the suspensions have impacted on the side and the management have lost patience in him. The mystery illness coincides with the interest shown by Stourbridge, and our management say he will missing for two weeks ?, so its best for all parties that Sean moves on to a club where he will be happy. The reason Sean left Stourbridge Fc was that he fell out with current manager Gary Hackett, because he was left out the starting X1 and was on bench, so I hope it all works out for him this time .

Thank you to Sean for some magnificent memories that will live on long in many of us. Sadly the form of 2014 hasn't been replicated, and perhaps going back to a place you know well is for the best. I hope you can find form once more, and one day move on to a club in the football league.

Not happy!!!
Yes Geds has struggled with form this season, but he is young and surely was worth persevering with. We don't have that much creativity in the team yet seem hell bent on playing Harrad & Vincent - they must be on a few quid!!!

Strange one to me. Ok it hasn't quite clicked for Sean this season but I'd rather have him in our squad than some others. I think the bigger question is what does this say about the club finances. I dread to think what mess we maybe in if it was not for 2 decent cup runs. I think we will be ok this season but i really do fear for next year even more so if Harriers get relegated. I can see a the likes of Ellis & maybe a few more signing for them. Time will tell.

Sean gave us great memories and performances last season, but it's fair to say that he just hasn't been able to replicate it consistently this season. Second season syndrome maybe, as the opposition now know him and how to play him ? He has certainly been marked a lot tighter this season, and has looked very frustrated at times, leading to 2 red cards and suspensions. He has been left out of the team regularly, and having one of your highest earners on the bench / not playing, does no one any good. He's looked less hungry to me this season, and just hasn't been the same. I know that he and his family love their football and I thank them all for what they've brought to the Club, and wish them the best for the future.

I know it's hard, but sometimes sentiment needs to give way to hard reality. Sean has not played well this season and has been ill-disciplined at times which in turn probably leads to him not playing well etc., etc., and for Matt & Carl, they need a position to select a 'best' squad for any game. We don't know if there are off field stresses that have had an impact on performance......maybe working full-time and juggling training at Worcester etc. not giving Sean enough 'Sean time' with his family? If so, a move to the Glassboys may well get him back on track and I personally hope things work for him (we all remember last seasons efforts),
From the WCFC viewpoint. the move to Stour is a sound financial decision. We get a fee and the wage bill is reduced. At the end of the day, financial stability has to be paramount and in addition it looks like we've secured a sell-on value as and when Sean moves up the ladder again.

Absolutely the right thing for WCFC and Sean. Saw this happening a few weeks ago, and when the illness excuse was rolled out it was obvious what was happening. Players like Sean just need a ball at their feet, reminds me very much of Wayne Rooney. It's been a very frustrating season for Sean, after an impressive pre-season where he looked lean and hungry to be involved it's just gone from disappointment to disappointment and to be fair he's been a shadow of the player who made such an impact a year ago, he's looked human after all. I think also that as the form has dipped, so has the self-confidence, and Sean thrives on confidence, his natural flair and audacity are much more noticeable when confident and feeling good. This move gives Sean the chance to feel loved again, and you watch, the form will be straight back. Sean will be forever assured City Legend status, and for those goals and those memories totally deserves that acclaim.

He may well have expected to be picked up by a league side as others were after last year's cup run, and been deflated when that didn't happen. That could have had an effect on him.

At least both sides have been grown up about it as Carl could have said he wanted Sean to stay and fight for his place, and Sean could have said I will sit on the bench or in the stand and collect the money until my contract expires. What is obvious he is too good for the glue pot league so a good bit of business with the sell on clause which carries forward to any future transfers. Maybe this will free up money to keep Ebby for the rest of the season? Rest assured with Carl in charge of the playing budget City will not overspend.

Thanks for the memories. Did not see the rabona goal but his goals at Coventry and at home to Scunthorpe will be the talk at our dinner table for years to come. Hopefully all can move forwards.

I'm really disappointed at his departure. They do say "form is temporary - class is permanent" and he, to me, was class. Unfortunately the two red cards cost him 7 games if my maths is correct and once you're out of the team it's difficult to get back; I think Carl and Matt make a point of not automatically putting a player straight back in the team after suspension. Perhaps it's to reinforce the message about discipline.
On the plus side Sean never was a team player. As has already been said he thrives on confidence and being out of the team leads of course to a dip in confidence.
Still, it's his decision and I wish him well.

A interesting thread on Sean Geddes on the Stourbridge forum by " Devils Advocate" On the background why Sean left the club and that he was offered a 18 month new contract on less money, because of budget cuts to the playing budget. It appears he was on decent money with a appearance and goals bonuses and could of sat on this lucrative contract until the end of season, but chose to move back to Stourbridge. Sean played 70 minutes and was substituted in Stourbridge fc victory 3-2 over local rivals Halesowen Town.
