Away again! Still, Southport isn't that bad a journey if you like the M6, and it's a winnable tie, with Southport 21st in the Conference and having won only one game at home all season.
It's a funny old thing drawing numbers out at random: Stourbridge home to Kidderminster again, in a repeat of that FA Cup tie earlier in the season. Who'd have thought that could happen?

I agree that it's a winnable tie. There are some big guns and some 'tricky' guns that we've avoided.
As it's a relatively straightforward jaunt up the M6, I wonder if there will be appetite for support.........a couple of coachloads maybe?

It's a decent enough tie, but annoyingly away! I doubt we'd be able to fill one coach for it, let alone two. It's winnable though, so another potential £5,000 if the team plays how we know they can.
There's a fair few teams I would rather us have got.
As for Stourbridge - Kiddy, I can see the landlords winning it this time. By the sounds of things, they are a bit of an improved side of recent (albeit not by much).
I just spotted that Cheltenham could play Gloucester too! (or Chelmsford).

Our supporters will be on the open terrace behind the goal which holds just under 1200 and 300 seats are available for visiting supporters in the main stand at the " Merseyrail community stadium ", also know as Haigh Avenue. Ticket price details have been released today - Main stand- seating £15 concessions £11 , Standing £13.50 concessions £10 , Age 12-18 £5 seating or standing, age 5-11 £1 seating or standing. If the game goes to a replay it will be played on Wednesday 16th December , normal match day prices will apply. Hopefully a decent number of supporters will travel north to Southport, a side who are currently struggling in the league and are 21st in the league, so it should be a interesting game.

Seems the Southport Forum don't reckon too highly on the fixture and anticipate a 'low' crowd (not sure if that includes visiting fans or not) so it's unlikely to be a sell-out. Only reason for ticketing may be to cater for segregation, perhaps?
Is gate money split.....as was the case with the FA Cup?

Yup, I suspect it'll be around the 600-700 mark, so segregation shouldn't be needed. I wouldn't be surprised if the club decides against putting on a coach - I just don't think there is appetite for it. Some will go up in cars, and the ST will probably have a bus, so another isn't needed imo.

I appreciate that the supporters club will no doubt put on their usual bus for the 'regulars' but if the club put out a notice indicating they were considering running a coach to Southport and asked for interested bods to notify them via the electronic mail system, there might be sufficient numbers to warrant one. At, say, £15 a seat it may only need 30 take-ups to break even (my guesstimate here ) on the cost and so would be worthwhile. More than 30 take-ups equals a small profit. There would also be sufficient time to arrange on-line payment (as per the Gateshead trip?). Dodger.

If I remember rightly, my coach driver to Sheffield said it was £450 a coach (although one of the companies charged £550), and it'd probably about the same distance as Southport, so you'd be about right of 30 to break even at £15 a pop.

Does anyone know if there is any doubt about this fixture going ahead ? I have looked at their website & there are no indications, but as the met office weather forecasters have issued a yellow alert for more flipping rain in the area I was just wondering if the pitch likely to get waterlogged & there might be a last minute postponement. Apologies if you think I'm being negative.

The players will be well rested for our next game now then, ut fixtures will start to come thick and fast in a couple of weeks.

Disappointing for fans that made the trip - thankfully the City didn't lay on any coach/es . Not too bad for lancashirelad, as probably still had time to re-arrange things and get into that Christmas shopping spirit Dodger.

The players will be well rested for our next game now then, ut fixtures will start to come thick and fast in a couple of weeks. Is there a danger that it could get re-arranged for.......say next Tuesday night? May be awkward if any of our players have work commitments on the basis that they aren't expecting a game (a Wednesday replay would no doubt have been factored in). Dodger. Edit - just saw your post adycrean

Cannot imagine it's enough time for most to get the time off work if needed, so going off past experiences, I wouldn't be shocked if Nathan isn't at the game.
Forecast up there is more rain today, more tomorrow and a chance of some on Tuesday, lets hope they have some decent groundsmen.

Wasn't this what happened to Northwich 1874 in the last round?
They ended up getting eliminated because couldn't afford to get a team to the rearranged match so soon after the postponement?!

Post by thesecondjack on Dec 12, 2015 16:02:16 GMT
I believe it did. The team they were meant to play (forgive me I forget who it was) gave them £1,000 of the prize money as a goodwill gesture, and all Northwich did was complain about how stupid the situation was. Surely clubs know what procedure is before a match. It's unfortunate, but that's the way it goes.

Meanwhile the landlords lost to Stourbridge... again. 2-1 even after Kiddy took the lead initially.
902 turned up to see the game.

I decided to make the long trip to Southport, leaving by car from Kidderminster and driving to Wolverhampton to catch the train to Wigan and changing their for the train to Southport. I phoned my wife to check on Southport Fc twitter to see if the match, and it said the pitch was wet but would ok for 3pm kick off, so I arrived at the ground just after 2pm to be told the match had been called off at 1.40. I saw Steve Carley who was doing the commentary for BBC H&w, said it was playable at 12.30, but the pitch couldn't cope with rainfall. I managed to get in 70 minutes of the Fa Trophy game Burscough V Guiseley and the pitch was wet but near perfect, a excellent cup tie which finished 2-2. I cannot see many Worcester supporters making the trip on Tuesday night to the rearranged game, I will be giving this one a miss as no consideration is given to the travelling supporters.

Dover in the second round if we get past Southport. Guess what. It's away...
Tough draw.

Another away draw. Should we win tomorrow, I think we'd be playing Dover on the 16th Jan, meaning our game against Corby at home would be rearranged.

I think we should forget all about Dover until we see what happens tomorrow night.

0-0 at 89 minutes, with City on top in the first half and Southport in the second. Burton off for Dunkley and Gudger off with an injury and Minihan on in his place.
And that's the final score: does that mean a replay next Tuesday (22nd)?
