Looks like we have slipped into the bottom 3 this evening
Telford winning again
It's all very tight, but we've got some work to do after the distraction of the cup this weekend

we have game in hand, i know they have the points, but lets kill the Giant this weekend then go spoil the other teams in the leagues positions, stay positive, win this weekend then get the points & finish mid to top of table, & thats another good year, oh forgot win the next couple of cup games after this weekend. that will put some monies in the bank as well...

Another fabulous cup run has come to end and now its back to reality in the league, with us now at the bottom of table and facing Stalybridge Celtic on Saturday. A combination of poor recruitment in close season with the need to bring in experience players to address our problems and the discipline issues resulting in suspensions to key players have hampered our league form. Maybe the decision to rest players for Harrogate Town league game was a costly decision, with their eye on the Sheffield United cup tie. Lee Hughes is now available for the Stalybridge game and hopefully will get us back on track to climb the league, Hughes and Sean Geddes owe this club big time for these suspensions. We are in FA Trophy action on 28th November in the 3rd Q round with the 1st round on 12th December and another cup run starts. Next home game Tuesday 17th November 19.45 KO - Boston United - hopefully some of the 2000+ will turn up to cheer the boys on.

Concentrate on the league and forget the Trophy no money in it and the same thing happens every season we play a team from our level and then one from National National and go out, making buttons from it as nobody watches the games so play the fringe players

We certainly need to go on a good run in the League, with hopefully a good Trophy run to keep the confidence going.

Sod the Trophy. This squad is good enough to still have a chance of the playoffs but at the very least we need to secure our place in this league

League has to take priority over the trophy right now, that's a given, but we certainly shouldn't just write it off before we're even in it - and the view of 'league is our priority over the trophy' will shift in us all should we win a couple of trophy games. It's a £4,000 prize for the first round we enter, which although not as much as the cup, should not be turned away. Besides, who doesn't love to dream of Wembley?

See you at Stalybridge tomorrow, where the great fight back begins (I hope :

This seasons league form has been poor and the league table doesn't lie, just three wins in 15 games and have lost in nine, scored 16 and conceded 25. Why are we in this position ? , poor discipline -How many players have been sent off ?and suspensions have disrupted the side, poor close season signing not coming off ,Ryan Rowe, Clayton Mcdonald and Darren Campion. The players we currently have in the squad should be pushing for play off place with the quality and experience we have. Lets start by getting a win in the game on Tuesday night against Boston United, a tough game a side in seventh place. I think their will be changes to the side, with Carl Heeley was scathing about the poor defending against Stalybridge, and seems unlikely Nathan Vaughan will be fit to play. The players have proved they can perform in the cup and its back to reality in the league and they need to step up to the plate with three points on Tuesday night.

The players have proved they can perform in the cup and its back to reality in the league and they need to step up to the plate with three points on Tuesday night. On the issue of close season signings hindsight is a wonderful thing. Overall I think the Management Team have recruited very well. Ryan Rowe has previously proven himself at a higher level and he never had a target man to play alongside, I would have liked to have seen him paired with Lee Hughes. Clayton McDonald is a quality footballer who was unfit. Darren Campion Is a quality player who was just not up for it in a City shirt. But look at the signings that have been positive, Minihan, Sharp, Nash, Morris, Gudger, Thomas (again!), Hughes, Burton. I do agree that it is massively frustrating that with all the variables that can sabotage a team (injuries, loss of form, transfers, poor team spirit etc) that our current troubles are self-inflicted through a lack of discipline causing suspensions and disruption. And I agree we should be mid-table at least looking towards a play off place. But I am keeping the faith that all will be well but avoiding that dreaded phrase "we are too good to go down!"

When you look at the signings we made in the close season - it's easy to say that the large majority have been decent... I think the issue most have is that Ryan Rowe and Darren Campion were both bigged up by our managers, as being the big signings we needed to improve as a team - the likes of Gudger, Minihan and Morris I believe, were meant to just fill the numbers and be squad members, nothing more. The fact that Gudger and Minihan at least, have cemented themselves in the first team is commendable!

A big league game on Saturday against a struggling AFC Telford and a chance to push on in the league and move up the table. Hopefully we will get a number of the experienced players back in the side, Vaughan back in if he is fit, Geddes returning from suspension and Lee Hughes back up front. The central defenders Sharpe and Gudger have done well and with Wayne Thomas available will cause a selection headache for our joint managers, unless Gudger plays left back with either Weir or Minihan dropping back on the bench. With the side playing well against Boston United it will be hard on any of the players to be left out, but it will be a rough tough game against a side battling for points, so some experienced players will be needed to get the result we need. What are thoughts on the game against AFC Telford, what side would you select and would you bring back in , Geddes ,Thomas, Hughes and Buuton ? What will the attendance be ? .

Geddes will come back in and Hughes if fit for Brown (who did very well against Boston). Vaughn the same if 100% for Ross. I'd leave the defence alone this week unless forced to change through injury. I'm still not convinced by Vincent but it may be he needs a run of games and Dunkley seems to be more of an impact sub.

I'd play Geddes in place of Jamie Smith, as he's surely got to be rested tomorrow, and if fit, Vaughan to replace Ross in goal. Weir has got to be looked at, trying to come back to fitness, I think he's played about 150 of 180 minutes possible in the past week, so might be tired. May have to play Gudger at left back and have Thomas or Morris in centre with Sharpe. Andre Brown looked okay on Tuesday, certainly didn't hamper his chances of more game time by getting the winner, but I'd rather Hughes up front for this game, experienced strong head. Vincent is an interesting one, I thought he looked decent on the wing on Tuesday, as he has done a few times, but in the second half he looked to be in a more central position and didn't look great at all... so I'd say it depends on the shape we play with as to if he should play. Of course he could have just looked central due to swapping wings with Nti 20 times a match.

we need to try & keep the team stable with the players, they seem to be in, out or in different positions every game, i know the suspensions & those sidelined with injury have hampered this but once we are like this things will change for the better, i like the two wingers swapping sides as this gives the defenders something to think about, i would leave Geddes on the bench & make him think about what he has done getting suspended twice this year so far, he needs to earn his place, unless players in that position are injured, i like him as a player but he must learn to kerb his temper. I think Dunkley is a great weapon to have on the bench as an impact sub but would like to see him & Nti start occasionally... tomorrow we need to come out of the blocks & score a couple of goals early & keep trying to score more not sit on a lead, & play on the floor not high balls allot hoping Nti can get to them & score or find others supporting...

I certainly wouldn't call Graham a reject... but then he's only on loan to them. Hope he gets a strong applaud from our fans should he play. There certainly is a strong City/Hednesford presence about them though!
I'm a big fan of their keeper, Montgomery... so if he pulls off some worldies - I called it!
