Puddles on some parts of the pitch. City kick off and perhaps guilty of over elaborating in tricky conditions. Hednesford with the wind at their backs. The game is close with Hednesford being more direct which suits the conditions more. Hednesford take the lead from a free kick on the touchline level with the penalty area. Ball driven in and sliced past his own keeper for an own goal (I think). HT 1-0. City press strongly in the second half but again guilty of trying to pass through an ever worsening pitch. Hednesford drive the ball forward and earn a corner, they slam the ball home from outside the area possibly a deflection or two, 2-0. City give the ball away from the kick off, the shot comes in from outside the area across the keeper into the bottom corner, 3-0. Hednesford fans giving City the full repertoire of their songs. City fans doing well to keep warm. Hednesford pressing forward for more. 15 minutes to go the ball is played across the half way line, City's right back runs through but the ball sticks in the mud and water. Referee abandons the game, 15 minutes to go, City 3-0 down and out. Biggest cheer of the afternoon from the City fans. Must have played the 'get out of jail free' card today.
Kiddy's game on Sunday must be in serious doubt.

They adapted to the conditions. We didn't.

They adapted to the conditions. We didn't. Correct - we had no plan b and continued to try to play short one touch football through the puddles. No chance of that working. We need some burley 'winter pitch' type players quick or else I fear we will fade off the pace. Time to pack the passing football away for a couple of months and get ready to to battle and fight. Certainly can't see Aggborough suiting passing football for a couple of months minimum from now. It's totally goosed.

Quite surprised that the second half started at all, despite the "army" of pitch forkers, because if it had been called off then there would have been few complaints.

According to Hednesford Witter account "City are deliberately playing the ball into the wet areas", so clearly that influenced the referee!!

Meh. It shouldnt have even been played. The pitch has standing water even before kick off. By half time, he should have pulled the plug on it. Then when he eventually did, I was just laughing at how completely ridiculous it had become.

City's comment on Facebook says:-
"Possible replay following todays game. The decision will go to the conference board."
And below that comment it quotes the rules in full:-
"8.3.1 All matches shall be of ninety minutes duration. The half time interval in all matches shall not exceed fifteen minutes. Any match which is not of ninety minutes duration may be ordered to stand as a completed match or replayed for the full period of ninety minutes or be awarded to the Club not at fault, as the Board may decide, on such terms as the Board shall decide. 8.3.2 In the event that a match is abandoned before half time the Club playing at home will issue a voucher to each spectator valid for free admission if the match is ordered to be replayed. In the event that the match is abandoned during or after the half time interval the Club playing at home is not obliged to issue such a voucher. 8.3.3 In the event that a match is abandoned for reasons over which neither Club has control the Club playing at home shall retain the gate receipts for such uncompleted match and the Board shall determine the terms upon which any replayed match shall be played."
So it sounds like we'll have to pay again if it IS replayed.

I was in Northumberland Boxing Day so went to see Ashington play their local derby at Bedlington. But had I been at home I'd be more than happy to pay again, because it' would give us the chance to overturn that result. Just a point, I doubt the pitch at Aggborough was as bad as up there...... More like a soggy ploughed field & the referee was far worse than any we see in our league !!

Could the club not use this as the opportunity to reward those with cup tickets, I did notice an advert/statement telling us to retain them with a sort of watch this space tag line.

Bit of a backlash from Kiddy fans regarding the state of the pitch yesterday - that apparently caused their defeat v Southport. Amazed it got played.
I remember similar controversy last year when the pitch was in a bad state.
Long term - you wonder how much Kiddy value the cash (£1k / match?) versus a better quality playing surface.

If this was to be our last season at Aggborough, is Evesham and Bromsgrove's ground up to Conference standard?

Eveshams ground was built to comply with southern prem regulations and i think at the time city were looking for a ground it was said the victoria ground would need money spent on it to bring it up to current conference level. Moving on to the state of the pitch didnt kiddy spent money on it in the close season, whatever was done doesnt seem to have been very effective and they also now contract out the pitch maintenance etc,how much time is spent on this compared to when they employed their own groundsman?
