Top player who deserves to move upwards, have really enjoyed watching him play for the City and look forward to see him progress.

It was inevitable and l guess others might also be attracting interest from FL clubs. I was wondering if he might have gone to Scunthorpe! George is one of the best players I've ever seen in a City shirt and I wish him all the best.

I've been saying to my grandson for ages that he's "too good to play at this level", so I shouldn't be surprised, but it is still really disappointing for us, but - I guess - good for George. Thank you George, it's been a pleasure to watch you for a season and a half. I had hoped we could hang on to him till the season finished, but obviously not. I do hope this is not the beginning of the dismemberment of our squad, and with it our promotion credentials.

Great player and he has cemented himself into City history as part of "that team". Really hope it doesn't affect the league form and that there are no more departures, although if there are, who can blame them? I'm sure we will all keep an eye out for you George.

Best of luck, George. You've been an absolute star for us since the beginning of last season and a move into League football is fully deserved. We'll miss you.

Yes a terrific player. It was inevitable he would move on. Good luck. I hope we got a decent fee for him? However, this management team have recruited very well and now we have a higher profile and a bit more cash let's hope then can add more talent to the squad.

The parallels with 78/79 are uncanny...
A hair's breadth away from reaching FA Cup third round after a replay against league opposition
An outstanding right back gets snapped up by a league team
.....The 3rd coincidence would be we win the league!! (....or we re-sign Graham Selby)

I don't think George ever had a bad game for us, consistent high quality performances. AND such a modest unassuming lad who fully deserves this success. One moment sticks in my mind his lung bursting run back at the Ricoh when a Coventry forward broke away and raced towards goal, George caught up with him and timed his tackle to perfection, marvellous stuff!!! I shall also miss sitting by his Dad who came to see him home and away a lovely friendly guy, you could see where George gets it from. We shall all miss you very much George, Barnsley have a bargain however much they paid and we shall be watching out for you. Good luck and hope to see you again, who knows maybe the Cup next season?!!!

Top player and top bloke. He's upped his game and been consistently very good all season. I'm not at all surprised. I hope that City got a good deal with realistic add ons, as this can go towards strengthening the squad. At 21, this is a great opportunity for George, and I wish him all the best.

Very best of luck. Last line of defence, first line of attack. Big hole to fill. Hopefully we can be seen as an attractive club for young players to launch (re-launch) their careers.

Thank you 'stamoo' for such kind words; I now break cover as George's dad aka "Sumowatcher". "Sumo" was one of many nicknames we gave George when is was a baby so I knew only he would know the identity. We both plan to be at tomorrow's match against Halifax to say our goodbyes. As a parent I sincerely thank Worcester City, in particularly Carl, Matt and George's team mates, for helping to develop George's game and enabling him to take up his new challenge. Furthermore the support given by the fans, who clearly took George to their hearts, was incredible and I know George is truly grateful.

Sumowatcher caught your call in to Collymore on Talksport after the Coventry game and loved the fact that you had taken the time out to ring in and praise Carl and the boys. It's been a pleasure watching George since he came into the side. Not surprised it's him who has got his move first but selfishly hope there aren't more to follow. Thoroughly enjoyed him and Tyler bombing forward at every opportunity. Glad you will both be there tomorrow and would be great to see him on the pitch at half time so we can give him a proper send off! Best of luck George at Barnsley.

All the best to George, winning Supporter's Player and Player's Player of the Year Awards last season says it all. Loved the way he raced over to celebrate with the supporters after the Coventry game.

Great news for George , although another person disappointed to see him go. The good thing in my eyes is we don't need to spend immediately. Tyler is naturally a right back and Shab a left back. Add Connor gudger and josh smith as back up. Also hutch can play fullback if we have Tomo and Jacob in the middle. The real q is who else may leave. Maybe geddes and nti now Wrexham have money ?

What are the 'rules' for signing players outside the transfer window?...
Is this an exception because City play below Conference (premier) level? O
Or does it relate to whether the player was under contract or not?

George has been a great asset to the team and I would like to wish him the best of luck in his future career.
All this cup success has put us in the shop window and I fear one or two more may depart. But on the plus side we are a bit more high profile [and probably a bit richer],so Carl,Matt and the management team might find it easier to entice players in.

Lets all hope we are all sat around a table with George and the rest of the team in 20 years time talking about this season and the stuff that happened behind the scenes...
