Great performance today against a physical Harrogate side. It's good being a City supporter just now ?

Vaughan carrying a slight groin strain apparently. City were so comfortable today even with 4 changes from Tuesday!!!!
Great being a city fan right now - lots of victory beer.

My reliable sources tell me that Wayne Thomas played in goal during his time at Torquay United. He played in the First Leg of the Devon Bowl on 25th September 1996 against Exeter City. He kept a clean sheet then too!

Thommo was immense today. You have to have some bottle to step up and play in goal, but that's the mark of the Man. He was very well protected by a strong and solid defence but he exuded confidence and his distribution was outstanding. Just his physical presence on the pitch gives us a competitive edge. That number 10 for Harrogate caused a ruckus in the tunnel after the game when he had a go at Thomo, which proves just what an idiot he is. Is it just me or is Ellis Deeney playing out of his skin at the moment? I thought he was magnificent today battling and winning the ball, dominating midfield and switching the play wide to bring George W and Tyler into the game. He has come a long way since he started as a full back. A great performance all round in the circumstances. Jordan Murphy looks very promising, if we ask Walsall nicely I wonder if they will let is keep him? Best of all I see a real heart and commitment in this team to work hard for each other and to kick on and be successful. There seems to be a real team spirit amongst this set of players. It is indeed good to be a City supporter at the moment and I do think if we can keep this team together it could get better still.

If I could echo Mark's comments - a very physical (wrong side of fair) performance at times from Harrogate. I wonder if they consulted with Leamington, or whether they saw the only way to unsettle City was to get stuck in. Really poor challenge on Rowe late on, what warrants a red card these days?
Second half performance was good with 2 cracking finishes. Wright running onto a defence splitting pass as their defenders pushed up. The second a fine piece of individual play from Murphy who picked up a long pass wide on the right touchline, level with the penalty area. With most expecting him to hold it up waiting for support, he went past his man and finished superbly. Not sure if there was a deflection as the keeper got nowhere near it.
What can you say about our 'new' keeper. A tremendous punch away from a corner in the first half was as good a clearance as one is likely to see from any first choice keeper. On the whole he was not given a great amount to do, credit to the defence.
As reported by others above the semblance of a feel good factor about the place. Lets keep feet firmly on the ground though, one game at a time and all that..

Felt very nervous about Thomas coming on as substitute goalkeeper, but he was not really tested throughout the game by a poor Harrogate side. Again the side played well and look one of the best sides I have seen for City in a long while.
Bring on Greenwich Borough, hoping for the win and a good home draw in the 1st round proper, how about Sheffield United at home and televised?

As long as it's not FGR, I'd hate any of our supporters to have split loyalties !!

I don't know why, but I found that performance against Harrogate peculiarly satisfying! I think it was the willingness of the team to get stuck in against the odds, and - let's be fair - they laid themselves on the line to protect Thomas in goal. I know he did a good job, but so too did Williams, Rowe, Hutchinson and Deeney: perhaps I should mention the whole team, it's unfair to single out individuals on that performance.
I must have seen wrongly (maybe my age is against me!), as I could have sworn that Walshaw had already been booked in the first half. It was noticeable that four Harrogate players got booked - none for City. That tackle on Rowe late on by Walshaw was absolutely disgraceful.
I would echo the comments above for the most part. I must admit my heart sunk when Jose got injured in the first minute; I thought we were bound to lose without a regular keeper, and it was not an auspicious beginning, but after 10 minutes I was already thinking "we can beat these", so it just shows how wrong you can be.
There is a little bit of magic in this team: let's hope we can keep them all together. And Symmo yet to come back too!
