Two years ago the future success of the England team depended on completing that panacea for all ills, the St. George`s National Centre at Burton.
Now, almost before the England team have set foot in it or a Coach of Excellence qualified, it`s about getting young players hardened to competition.
Using the lower league to develop youngsters is already possible via the loan system although many Premier coaches have always regarded the Conference as too rough and tough for their prima donnas.
No doubt after another World Cup disaster another bright idea will come forward .Personally,I think they are all p.....g in the wind!

Question 1: What was the main cause of the resurgence of the Spanish national football team that led to them winning trophies in three consecutive tournaments in 2008, 2010, and 2012?
Was it?
A. The formation of Real Madrid B in 1930
B. The formation of Barcelona B in 1970
C. The fact that Spain has around ten times as many qualified football coaches as England

So this is all about having a successful England team is it? The FA are not fooling anyone. Since its inception its been about how much money is generated, how much money players earn, TV money, agents money. All the time more and more is going to fewer. In short they gauge their 'success' by money. Unfortunately it is not just our FA, just look at UEFA and FIFA. How can somewhere like Qatar host a World Cup? Isn't it obscene that the stadia they have to build will be able to hold the complete population of Qatar and then some?
The 'attractions' of following the local team is you can relate to the players. With the trusts proposals for a community club they are doing far more for football than our sweet FA (sorry). If you want a successful England team then you have to get youngsters 'playing' thegame. Sadly these days kids can't be bothered and playing on the street as was the case years ago is no longer safe. The local team is a way of experiencing the game initially and maybe getting them hooked on the sport (should I say business).
I can only see the FAs proposal of introducing B teams making the fatter clubs even fatter and the smaller clubs struggle even greater. And what is to say that the B teams will not be chock full of non English qualified players.

Has Greg Dyke had a seriously large bung from some of the wealthier Premier league clubs ? The big clubs will just stockpile more players without having the need to loan them out to lower league teams to gain 1st team competition and experience. Just think after about 5 years and continuous promotions the top 3 in the Championship will be Man City B, Man Utd B and Chelsea B. I assume they can't go up another level, so how does anyone else get up to the Premier League? It will make an absolute mockery of promotion and relegation. Or is the real thinking behind this, is to make the premier league a closed shop?
