After the thrashing we had at their place tonight's fixture has a bit of added spice, with those lads who were playing for City that day presumably anxious to take revenge.
I'm looking forward to it, but going wrapped up: it's a keen East wind.

Well this is different, writing a post about football after going to a game! Firstly, who the hell from the Worcester News was writing those reports? Stockport were never on top in the whole game, and even thopugh it had 0-0 written all over it, only City looked like breaking the deadlock. They should have gone in at half time a goal up, Nti's missed free header from a corner was criminal! Apart from that ,the first half was like both teams were just going through the motions, satisfied with mid table mediocrity, little in the way of ideas and even less creativity. It was good though as I was able to catch up with a few old friends! Second half the game opened up, but from what saw, City have a lack of fire power up front. There's no natural goalscorer in the team, no-one just popping up in the six yard box, or hanging around the back of the penalty area for a cut back. Midfield looked pretty flimsy, especially in the middle, that chap Brown likes to be a passenger, and where's the combative Holloway / Snape like enforcer? Defence looked solid, but there again niether defence had much to do. All in all, it was pretty dull, with the only real bright spark being Martin Devaney, which is no surprise as he was always a class act at Cheltenham. But he was a bit wasted playing out wide, with his confidence on the ball, surely he could control the middle of the park? And he's lost his pace now, so central mid is just made for him. Finally, the officials, simply hopeless, no communication and basic errors. Like, when a player from both sides recieve treatment on the pitch, with both trainers out there, then how come only the City player (Nti) was waved to the sidelines? basic stuff! And calling back on an injured player before a corner had been taken, then waving him back off again! Quite a poor show all round, but hey, City are safe for another season, so who cares a crap about a boring game or two, or seven??

I think City looked tired and there was no plan 'B'. When the diagonal ball to Nti didn't work they just tried it over and over again.
When all is said and done though it's another point in the bag and another point towards safety (if we're not safe already).

Never likely to win as we never do when segregation is in place! Hopefully they can be got rid of especially on a Tuesday night just not needed.

I found that quite one of the most boring 1st halves I've ever seen: Stockport playing training-ground triangular football, City chasing shadows.
The second half was better but I'd agree it had 0-0 written all over it.
On the plus side that was our second game in 3 days against a full-time side, and who finished the stronger? City by a long way.

I thought Tyler Weir did very well to keep a fast, strong and tricky winger muzzled. Wayne Thomas was a dominant and towering presence at the back, a marvellous signing. At times our passing, particularly in midfield was poor and we kept giving the ball away cheaply. I was interested to read in last Saturdays programme Carl's comments about the change in our style of play in the last two months. Passing our way up the pitch put aside and replaced by the long ball game, not my favourite type of football but one cannot argue with the way it has brought us essential points and moved us up the table. Aaron Brown looked a tremendous signing in the first few games but looked a little lost, I think he is better when played deeper rather than behind the forwards. If we are going to stick with the long ball game I wonder if Mike Symonds could be tempted back from Oxford? I would like to see how he would combine with Daniel Nti.

Symmo could easily be tempted back at the end of the season I reckon.
