I found out recently that former City midfielder Roger Barton died in November, age 67. A Yorkshireman, he played for Lincoln and Barnsley before coming to Worcester in 1969. He had three seasons here before being released in 1972. That was before my time and in truth I don't know much more about him. Does anyone remember him and if so what was he like as a player? No relation to John Barton incidentally.

He was a pretty solid midfielder - if my memory serves me well. A tidy, reliable player. Sad to hear the news.

He was in the first City team that I watched - candy striped shirts era. That was my recollection as well although a bit young to give a good assessment. I see he was actively involved with his local club in fund-raising.
