1 - 1 perhaps a fair result. First half we absorbed what they had to offer, with Veiga taking his time clearing the ball allowing the team to regroup. City offering a threat on the break. Second half, City score from a breakaway. Not quite able to extend their advantage. As the game progresses Lincoln press City further and further back. Their goal comes from a corner hit beyond the far post which is headed back into the 6-yard box.
Was it me or did Lincoln like to get in your face, literally. I am referring to 2 challenges at least on Hutchison. There were a couple of hefty challenges on Thompson, the final one resulting in him hobbling off. Then there was their centre half clattering into the back of Ethan Moore. Good old fashioned 'let them know you're around' defending. On another day, perhaps with the same referee, they might have finished with less than 11. PS I did not see the challenge on Veiga, who also needed treatment.
On the plus side City created chances, so if they perform as well in the replay who knows. Hopefully no injuries picked up.

Good performance from the lads today against a team of full-time players. Danny worked hard and won a lot of headers and tackles in his own box. For me Shabba and Hutch were my men of the match.
Have to say I'm enjoying the Aggborough experience. The ground, the stewards, the parking and the food.

I thought that was a belting cup tie. Could've gone ether way right until the death - and I thought City's defending all over the pitch was excellent.
Lincoln were a big physical side but we didn't let them overpower us.
It'll be tough on Tuesday - but at least we're in the draw for the next round!

In yer face was right. The ball goes through to their keeper in second half Daniel Nti followes it in the keeper collects with one hand and pushes his fist into Daniel's face. Standard practice for lesser teams to get physical when up against it.

Have just read the write up in the NLP by Dave Lawrence, he makes it sound like it was them against Veiga. Now unless I was at a different game that isn't quite how it was. Jose made a couple of decent saves but he wasn't really tested that often. As far as I'm concerned the back 4-5 defended as a solid unit most of the game, all being superb. This restricted the one-trick-set-piece-pony that was Lincoln to only a handful of decent chances. We played the better football over the 90 minutes and looked more dangerous going forward.
Usually if the lower team fails to finish the higher ranked one off in the first game then they generally get turned over in the replay. However in this case I think it will be another close game which we have every chance of winning. We can play better, but after reading their message board over the last week, I'm not sure that they can, at the moment.
I am getting that Accrington Stanley feeling.

Great game, thought we did really well against a limited but very physical Lincoln side. Amazed they kept 11 on the pitch, and that their match report made it look like we were the thugs! Nowt as blind as those who don't want to see.
Will be very tough over there, fingers crossed!

I thought our back four were magnificent especially Graham Hutchison, what an acquisition he is proving to be, brave, committed and excellent in the air. Shab too was superb, especially I think since he has not been a regular due to suspension and injury. I do think Jose is a terrific character in goal who just exudes solid calm dependability, he made several good stops to keep us in it and he knows how to slow things down to take the pressure off when necessary. Having seen the highlights, although obviously the best bits, it reminded me how well we passed the ball around at times, several of our moves going forward were very impressive, as so often this season it's just that final pass. Lincoln were strong especially in midfield and moved the ball around very well at times but often to little effect.
We will do very well to progress on Tuesday I think it's asking a lot against a fit full time side playing at home, but who knows? If our defence can turn in another outstanding performance and we can close down the midfield we may be able to spring a surprise. Come on City, Plymouth Argyle at home would be a wonderful match.

Echo everything that's been said above. Thought we played our hearts out. Perhaps Richard Taundry could have done more, but that said we more than matched them. What a pity that Glover header after just two minutes didn't go in!
I think the tie is far from over: stranger things have happened. I note that Nolan (their ginger-haired number 19 - and for my money one of their more influential players) is out of the replay, having picked up a fifth booking on Saturday. As it says in the good book "Oh ye of little faith."
It'll be another Tuesday night glued to the radio as far as I'm concerned.

Oh dear, that was dire ! I honestly thought we had a good chance of winning after Saterday's performance. But it seemed like it was two totally different teams on the pitch tonight. Result (in my opinion) lincoln 3 City rubbish I guess about 60 of us supporters turned up, that would be 59 more supporters than players !! Thank god we've got a goalie who saved us even more embarrassment. Give lincoln all the credit, they were right up for it & attacked til the final whistle. A good team to watch & had us beaten in every area of the pitch, sadly the right result tonight.

Well done City boys, proud of another good cup run. So we lost tonight..,in fairness they were bloody lucky to still be in it after Saturday.
No shame in losing to a full time outfit.
Can certainly see why Kiddy tore them apart !
Trophy draw coming up next week so let's look forward to a run in that

It wasn't dire, Lincoln were just the better team and outclassed us. No shame in that, no lack of effort, just outplayed by a full-time team.

Wasn't dire - just not as good as the opposition. Lincoln were a lot better than they were on Saturday. No shame in being outplayed by a better team. Understandable if heads went down a little at 0-3. Let's remember our guys are part-time. Will have been at work all day and then travelled 2 1/2 hours to get there. Think they deserve credit for battling away to the end. Thank god we've got a goalie who saved us even more embarrassment. Thought he was at fault for the first two goals. Seemed to make no effort to save the first - went down on one knee when the ball is going in off the bar. Second goal just before half time he fumbled into the net - that left us with an almost impossible task in the second half.
