Is it good news though? I'd rather have Symmo any day myself; Glover always strikes me as a lazy player who wants everything on a plate. I didn't see enough effort from him last season to warrant re-signing.
That said if he went back to the form he first displayed when he came here then he'd be a good acquisition. Either way it's a demonstration that all is not yet lost!

He worked his socks off this season, both upfront and in defence, looking for the ball when things weren't going well for him, while Symmo just stood there/moped about upfront most of the time. I think a Moore & Glover strike force will be exciting to watch next season, especially with Williams' eye for a pass as well as his pace to get past defenders, and Thorley's vision and work rate.

got to agree 100% with you Niels and couldn't disagree more with Tim. Glover was a work horse last season and would take him every time over Symo who I have not really rated ; even in his first season Is it good news though? Perhaps I've just got a soft spot for Symmo then if everyone disagrees. The proof of the pudding is, of course, in the eating - and I sincerely hope I am proved completely wrong!

I'm kind of with Tim, not overly blown away by the news as I was with TT. Danny never reproduced the form he showed at Nuneaton last season and of the two Symo or Glover, I'd rather have signed Symo, albeit he'd need to have worked really hard in pre season to get fit.

It's such shame that people are so quick to turn on players that decide to move on. Symo has been the top scorer for the last 2 seasons. People shouldn't be so quick to judge unless they know the circumstances as to why a player moves on. Why did Elvins, Birley, Symo, Weir, move on? They have all done us proud over the last few seasons and we should wish them well!!

sorry but who is turning on Symo. His goals kept us in the top half, I think he did a job but my preference is for Danny every time. when Dan was at Nunny Symo was a decent replacement but he didn't do it for me. he doesn't stay on his feet, he's not going to score a 35 yard strike, he is a poacher and not the sort of striker I think WCFC need, also shown by how often he kept the bench warm last season. not turning on him at all, just think Danny has far more potential and is much more of a team player. The only problem I see with Glover is that he's a constant wantaway, never having been with any football for two seasons in his career. Maybe he's run out of options now, and is seen as a bit of a liability by a lot of clubs.

Let's all give Glover a break.... I thought he was a little mercenary when he left us for Nuneaton a couple of years ago
But - he has stayed with us, when he had other options, on reduced money, when a lot of others have moved on. He and Thorley deserve a lot of credit and support from the fans

That's s fair point can't argue with facts! I do think Danny will be a better player with Ethan Moore.

Danny's range of passing, vision and the ability to stay onside for me out him ahead of Symo.
I think he and Moore will strike up a good partnership.
Like Ady said...at least he has stayed loyal !

Maybe Danny has reconciled himself to operating at this level. First time round suspect he thought by scoring some goals at City he would get a move further up the pyramid.

Yes , but you need to work hard in every walk of life. I applaud Glover for his loyalty and I hope he delivers and keeps us in the BSN that will do. But I've not seen that when he pulls on a city shirt on. Like I've said that might change now Ethan is his strike partner. Sorry but Symmo fell over more times than Bambi for a big bloke it became a joke on the terraces.

Let's not overlook that we're not awash with money. Do you really think we can just go out there and find someone better than Danny Glover? Danny is a proven goalscorer at this level and in the circumstances I'm very glad that we've secured his services. I'm sure he'd be the first to admit that he didn't do as well as he would have liked last season but he's still managed to get 10 goals plus in every season that he's played at our level.
I think the key is finding someone who can partner him - if we have two up front - or else playing a different system that suits Danny better. He's a different sort of striker to Symmo and the two of them never gelled at all last season in my opinion.
