I shall not be at the Lane tomorrow,I said my farewells at the Guiseley game but as the one time `announcer` I have been thinking of what might make a suitable farewell to `The Old Lady`. The opening words of Frank Sinatra`s `My Way` would seem suitable viz. `And now,the end is near......`but I`ve never liked that song (Francis Albert didn`t either but it made him about three fortunes!) so I`ve opted for his very haunting `And there used to be a Ballpark right here`from his `Old Blue Eyes is Back` album. When I first visited the Lane `after the war`,the standard fare was only ever military marching music and I can recall the absolute outrage when the big hit of 1948, Pee Wee Hunt`s `Twelth Street Rag ` was played both before the game and at half-time.I seem to remember that for some season`s it was regarded as the City`s signature tune.Be nice if it could be played tomorrow! Perhaps, after all,I`ll opt for Robert John`s `Sad Eyes`.I know there will be a few of those tomorrow!

Just listened to the Pee Wee Hunt song - fantastic stuff! Dorothy Moore's 'Misty Blue has always done it for me ... when looking at grainy photos of Harry Knowles et al ... Oh, it's been such a long, long time, Looks like I get you off my mind, Oh, but I can't, Just the thought of you, Turns my whole world, A misty blue. Just the mention of your name, Turns the flicker to a flame, I think of things we used to do, Then my whole world, Turns misty blue. (chorus) I should forget you, Heaven knows I tried, But, when I say, "I'm glad we're through." My heart knows I've lied.

Sorry, I didn't. Was abroad for most of the week and was having major iTunes trouble this morning. Hopefully some of the tunes played hit the spot.
