Careys are first and foremost a demolition company, so the Lane will be flattened in no time at all. This could have been avoided, but for the devious shits like Boddy, Hallmark and co. and the brainless directors like Prescott, Brown, Partridge etc who just let themselves be led along. And not least the deluded supporters who refused to accept that their beloved leaders really were shafting them.

I think Tim Munslow's long-serving mum should also get a mention in the pre match tributes.

All the names mentioned have all had a minutes silence (or applause in some cases)in their memory.
I think Tony should have his passing remembered alone. Why should a select few be mentioned and many others be missed out?? Either everyone should get a mention (& I don't think that list from over then many years can be compiled confidently without anyone being missed) or we just give those who knew Tony the chance to remember him

I feel very, very sad at this news. I only ever knew Tony as Tony I never knew his surname, but I used to stand on the terraces of many an away game with him when I used to follow Worcester more regularly, particularly when I was living in Worcester many years ago. As I recall he didn't stand at home games, I think that he sat in the main stand, so I only used to chat with him before and after the game. The last time I saw Tony was at an away match and indeed the last match I've been to and that was Oxford City v Worcester City last August, we spotted each other and went and chatted of course he ribbed me about my non-attendance these days and that Oxford being on the doorstep was probably a home match for me. I used to recall him driving to many an away game back in the nineties, didn't he have a Jaguar? He frequently gave Tim and Nigel two other former City supporter stalwarts who like me have lapsed in the attendance stakes, but I often heard them talking about going to matches, I think that Tony used to quite like driving pretty fast, he used to offer me a sly wink as Tim would recall white knuckle journeys to the delights of Hednesford, Atherstone, Nuneaton and further afield. He was generous man who I always chatted with I never saw him away from the football but I guess he was the same person in all other aspects of his life.
I feel very sad tonight, I don't know how old he was but I think he seemed far too young to depart this world. There are fewer and fewer faces that I recognise when I make my infrequent trips to the lane and now there is one less. I will be at the Chester game which has now become an even sadder fixture, I hope to say hello to a few of you and to bid a farewell to the likes of Tony and remember others that have passed away in recent years.

I think that Tony was 55 but would stand corrected. A few of us were talking yesterday and he is the latest in a line of people who have gone way before their time in recent years-Keiren Mooney,Sarah Bushell, Geoff and Gerald Ashby,Dave Bayliss,Tony Hyde,Gerald Taylor,Amy Ugarte,Colin Ranford-apologies to any I have missed.I suppose its the same in all walks of life but this really does make you think that you never know what is around the corner and you have to try and make the most of every minute you've got. RIP all

Fin Yes tony was 55 in December and yes he did drive one very fast Jag which was always his pride and joy (after his children and Grand children of course). He sold the jag about 3 maybe 4 years ago and of recent times got rid of cars altogether and relied on on trains, taxis and a few select friends to get him about. I was with you at that Oxford game too and he sat alongside us in the 2nd half in the stands.

I would just like to echo all the sentiments made previously about Tony. A great guy who always made people feel welcome and had time for you. As another exiled Southern City fan, always looked forward to chatting to him at away games and sharing a joke. Really shocked to hear the news. RIP Tony.

Utterly stunned and saddened by this news. I was driving home over the weekend thinking about when I could go and see him this week. Tony was an amazing guy, one of the nicest, kindest men that i have known. We had frank discussions from time to time, but his opinion was always worth listening to, and he was the kind of supporter who would always go the extra mile for the good of the club. He did some great work behind the scenes, most of it will never become public knowledge, but I will never now get the chance to thank him for helping me in some of the battles against the forces that have destroyed our once fine club. Not that he ever asked for help! A great guy, and a true City supporter. RIP Tony. Apologies for such a belated response. Only just realised after the Chester game, 'tired and emotional' anyway, who exactly Tony was. Which was a bit distressing at the time. 'Lovely chap' doesn't quite cover it, so if I may be so bold as to add 'Amen' to Jem's tribute above. RIP Tony Shiels.
