After last year, good to say job done... Though credit to their two central midfielders who really worked their socks off, especially in the first half and dominated that area for long periods. But in every other area City were superior and Taylor probably should have taken another chance or two earlier on... Though the locals would have had even more cause to argue about a flattering scoreline. Not withstanding the fact their own team tired badly late on. Don't know about the official crowd;two open gates meant you could just amble in and not everyone paid... So no surprise to see B*ddy there. Reckon about 350 in, about half from Worcester... And that steep terrace was better suited to sitting than standing? I think the crowd was near 400, I know at one stage there were 150+ in the ground and the que to get in was right outside the main gates, that was around 2:40. It was nice after last season to see you hug it out with Carl after the match ;-) I didn't really care how we played yesterday, I just turned up and wanted to take the win, if the lads played excellent then that was an extra bonus. First half they outplayed us in some of the early exchanges but we could of had a couple from Taylor before he did find the net. Once we found the net I think we bossed it and looked comfortable on the ball. Got to say Rob Elvins and Tom Thorley are having the best seasons in City shirts I've seen since they signed, in fact I don't think any player in the squad has had a particularly bad game this season, full credit to everyone. On we go to the next round but please can we have a home tie in our final season at the Lane.

I think our last five FA Cup draws have all been away from home - Gornal, Godalming, Corby, Boston and Telford - though the latter ended in a replay at the Lane.
As a result, we havent played at home in the FA Cup for three years!
Three games at home in the FA Cup last six years. Telford, Bourne and Tamworth. One win.

How does that ground pass the safety inspections?
Colin Layland must have been having kittens.
People standing in marked corridors. Only narrow entrances which were the exits too!!!!
No visible stewards!!
But the poor ground does not take anything from the team who played extremely well. Especially in the first half, but City's superior fitness told in the second half.
One can see why they have had a successful start to their season.

Thinking about it a bit more, in 2005/06 we had three Cup games all initially drawn (in both senses) at home - Romulus, Hemel Hempstead and Basingstoke. The previous year, 2004/05 was the Huddersfield year. So, Bourne in 2009 is the only home FA cup win since the Chippenham victory in November, 2004.

Have to get through the 3QR before worrying about the 4QR.
The following is, by my reckoning, the Midlands pool from where our opponents will be drawn.
Probable Midland Group
19 Worcester City 20 Boston United 21 Solihull or Westfields 22 Hinckley United 23 Cambridge City 24 Histon 25 Hednesford Town 26 Gresley 27 Carlton 28 Brackley Town 29 Dereham Town 30 Ilkeston or Belper Town 31 Buxton 32 Leek Town 33 Barwell 34 Corby Town

Evening all, glad ye enjoyed the day out.
Stewards wearing hi-vis jackets included Steve (on the shed side touchline) and Rufus (behind the uphill goal when you attacked it first half).
Thanks for the video link, good luck in round Q3.

Overall i think scoreline flattered us a little bit but we did deserve to win in the end. Personally i think starting with Taylor, Symons and Glover isn't quite working. Would much rather like to see us at 4-4-2.

If so, credit to the FA, for once...

Hardly.
He's a pal of my mate...
Anyway, when did the draw happen;9am? And why the general 'secrecy'?

Glad about the win, but not a brilliant performance from us in the first half. Taylor's goal came just at the right time and helped settle the nerves. Once the second went in one could relax.
The final score-line was extremely flattering to us I thought. Still, not an easy place to go and the all important thing was we won.
A word too in favour of Mr Ackerman, the referee, (who came all the way from Manchester for that game!). prepared to allow physical contact, played some good advantages, didn't fall for Greg Mills's dives once and always looked in control. We could do with more like him.

First off I would like to thank all of Worcester's fans, players and officials for making it a very entertaining cup tie! I would say we (Gornal) shaded the first half but you scored at just the wrong time,or just the rite time depending on your view and think that gave you great momentum for second half where you were the better side! Just on the ref point from the post above, my viewing of your second goal was a foul on the keeper, very much similar to the foul on your keeper in first half!Apart from that I'll agree ref was decent but had no major decisions really to make! Regarding the highlights,is there anyway we could get the full unedited version?it would be great for us to look and learn from because as you can imagine we don't often get our games recoded! Anyway, many congratulations, hope you enjoyed your day in the deepest darkest black country and best of luck in following round(s)!!!

Thought Gornal did themselves proud. Played very well, especially first half and could (should?) have been a goal or two up before we scored. The no10 in particular had a good first 45 minutes. Agree we were very fortunate not to have our second goal ruled out - it looked like a foul on the keeper at the game and even more so on the video. Hope Gornal can go on from that and have a good season.

You have to admire clubs like Gornal for keeping alive the grassroots of the game with limited facilities and gate receipts. I think the guy on the turnstile was a bit shell shocked at the number of Worcester supporters who turned up but did his job with a smile as did everyone else. I hope their good season continues and that they can get the success they deserve. I too thought there was a foul on the goalkeeper! All in all a very pleasant experience in Gornal. Here's to another enjoyable afternoon at WSM - and looking forward to seeing Macca again.
