There is no such thing as a FRIENDLY against Hereford. They, after all, are the auld enemy. Indeed....but it is just a game of football. I have fond memories, going back to the sixties, of coming to The Lane and being in crowds of 4/5/6000 for the "derby" games. Great days. Also been over more recently when our lot have been without a fixture. Looking forward to it.

I can remember a major running battle among rival fans down the aisles at Woolworth's in the early 1970s (no, I wasnt taking part), shifting the battleground from the High Street into the Shambles.
But you've got to be pretty old to think of Hereford as the auld enemy, eh, Tim? ;-)
So, I must be one of them, as like exlandlord, I can remember the massive crowds for the derby fixtures, and, as a cowering nipper, seeking the protection of my older brother on a visit to the intimidating atmosphere of the time at Edgar Street.
All long ago, and I hope this can be much more of a celebratory occasion, and a chance for fans to mix.

and, as a cowering nipper, seeking the protection of my older brother on a visit to the intimidating atmosphere of the time at Edgar Street. Those Easter derbies were electric! My first ever away game was at Edgar Street April 71 as a 13 year old on my own. Was one of many of hundreds of fans travelling on a FLEET of coaches from The Cornmarket

Segregation and probably a large police presence for their big day out?? 4 pages on their banter board thread says it all.
Who's bothered about a friendly against another non-league team?

Agree 100% with "citylegend". Will this game cost City in Policing the match? The club would have made a few quid from this not now!
Its pretty damn obvious reading there threads that they will cause trouble. Would have preferred Kiddy as a friendly.

We will not have to pay anything towards Policing UNLESS the Police are required to enter the ground. Hopefully with the number of stewards we have in place for the match we can let the Police do their jobs outside ! Then again id much prefer having segregation for 10 people instead of having no segregation in place at all !!!

Can anyone get all 4:
(1) Good Friday, City 3 Hereford 2, which 1960's season?
(2) The massive official attendance figure for the game?
(3) Who scored City's winning goal direct from a 35-yard free kick?
(4) And the Football League Div 1 club the same week that it was widely reported attracted a lower attendance figure for its home game?
You are allowed to cheat if you really have to.

Agree Citylegend.....well here's one who won't be going! Friendly game?... you got to be joking! Be amazed if there's any trouble. There probably won't be enough of a crowd... If there is, it'll just be a few kids. More pertinently, good to see reduced prices but won't be there either!

Last night, I read 'The Hereford United Story' which covers the period from the early 1920s to the mid-70s.
As the book charts the Clubs progression into the Birmingham League, and then the Southern League, the author frequently makes reference to the wins and doubles achieved over their local rivals at Worcester. Gave me the firm impression that the Bulls had dominated those local derbies.
This ran a bit counter to my own understanding, so a qucik check of our own Centenary Book does in fact confirm City's marginal lead in games between the two Clubs, with 53 wins 22 draws and 50 defeats. A balance that the Bull's historian of the time seemed at pains to paint over.
Any Bulls fans reading that book would come away with the impression that they had regularly smashed us, and that we were local minnows far down the food chain.

Obviously, there were going to be some idiots there. Shame. Hopefully it doesn't discourage new fans from coming.

I knew this would happen, police bill immanent! That said, I thought City where the better team Hereford on that showing are going to struggle. As for their fans, they didn't know what to do when the came through the gate! it was the kids running.
Hereford with all there bravado i.e we will bring a 1000+ never lived up to the hype.
Out played out supported end off.
Where was Tyler today? very strange.

Police were called by a Hereford United spotter, the bill goes in that direction I believe. Also this share of the gates is looking a little small at the moment with the damage done to the Ad Boards etc We got the main culprit from each side plus a few more and thank god my steward only has a cut and swollen eye. We were the better side from the 10 minutes I watched and thats three clean sheets now !!
