Found my copy of the superb History Book produced several years ago - and have a query about the old grounds used by the club and it's predecessors in the past.
It mentions "Severn Terrace" and "Thornloe" - does anyone know if either of these venues still exist and if either one is in fact is the piece of recreation ground on what is now Stephenson Terrace?

As an ex Bishop Perowne student, we used Stephenson terrace and occasionally called it Severn terrace and Thornloe the 5th form block. I do not know the definitive answer bit would guess that you are spot on in your assumption. I wonder is this still owned by the school and if it would make a good alternative to Nunnery way?

I thought that it was owned by Alice Ottley School. Which of course is now part of RGS.

I thought that it was owned by Alice Ottley School. Which of course is now part of RGS. It was leased by from the council but given back when the two schools merged, its now got a rugby pitch on it. The field at the bottom of Barbourne Terrace was a former 'City' pitch I was told.

The first ground, Severn Terrace, was approximately where the Swan Theatre is now. I wish I could find a photo of it, but so far no luck.
Thorneloe was most likely one of the fields near the bottom of Barbourne Crescent. The ground could have been at Stephenson Terrace, I don't know for sure, but if so then why call it Thorneloe? Thorneloe House is at the bottom of Barbourne Terrace, so my guess it was near to there.

Isn't this earmarked as the site for the giant radiators? Whatever happened to that barmy project?
