Heard a rumour a few hours ago that we've signed Lee Smith from Nuneaton?
Apparantly it came from the head steward so probably accurate?
Good signing if so.

Weird that Nuneaton wouldn't offer him a contract, from what I've read he has been their best player up top this season.
Upto Glover and Pugh to find their goals now.
They also report a few teams were after him so wait and see.
Well done to Carl and Matt if they pull this off and really shows that Carl works well when looking around for players !!

He has signed a two year deal according to his Facebook and Nuneaton message board.
Giving that he played for Gloucester I'm thinking that he played with Symo and Corbs before, should be able to link up well.

I'm trying to put a name to face. Anyone have a picture?
Did he play against us a few weeks back?

Much though I, like most people, would relish the signing of Smith I have to put my realistic hat on and think if we don't have spare cash to pay Naylor how can we pay Smith unless he is prepared to play for nothing too?

Emery and Taylor have left to go on loan to Stourport and their wages be paid by Stourport.
Gaskin from Telford was only signed on a short term two week deal as cover for injuries we've had and I believe he will of also left now.
Also Jared Wilson has moved on I think as he hasn't been in favour recently and Naylor is better in my opinion.
Carl may well be shipping a few more out, only Carl knows how much budget is left, also have to mention a good number of our players are midlands based and travel expenses are not what they used to be, well I wouldnt of thought so anyway, maybe a case there's a little more cash floating about because of that.
With Wilson going I think Carl will probably sort Nails a contract out

His shot set up Nuneaton's goal the other week. Otherwise, never heard of him. Presume he's cup-tied?

As this is the first round clubs at this level enter then that would hardly be likely, would it?!

Hi Nunny fan here. You will not be disappointed with Lee we only had him for a short time but he has looked quality in every game he will score you goals . Very disappointed to loose him as hes been our best player apart from Collett in goal .

Thanks for your more up to date info guys. Signing Naylor is great news and if Smith is as good as some of you are indicating that will help out with the fire power up front should anyone be suspended or injured. Excellent news. I will go to Godalming tonight a bit more confident of a victory and hoping to see a few more flaws in their team we can exploit. I understand Matt will be there for Carl making notes so know they will have that covered.

I am thinking Big Simmo has had a hand in this; after all he lives in the Cheltenham area I think, so perhaps he is able to share transport with Smith. Also I think he and Simmo played together both at Forest Green and Gloucester.
I thought the BBCHW report said that he had joined us on a season-long loan. However the Nuneaton website says he has definitely left them. So which is it?
I was also interested in what The Verner said above about "Also Jared Wilson has moved on I think ..." Has he? He was kicking around with the others on Saturday! I'd agree with The Verner though - Naylor is heaps better and a deadly striker of the dead ball. He also knows how to pass!

Had a quick conversation with Lee today via Facebook (as you do) and he says he cannot wait to pull on our shirt and wants to establish himself as a key signing and key player for us this year and possibly next and the future (whatever it holds).
Also spoke to Wardy and he bigged the club up to Lee when he was asking for Wardys advise at the weekend, seems from what ive heard and read about him that no matter what he gives 100% every game, so if you add him with Corbs and Symo we have three goal hungry never say die strikers !

Assuming we need to create some space - surely Danny Carey Bertram will move on. We now have Symons, Corbett, McGregor & Smith as forward options....

Dcb is a good player. Just was pretty dire on Saturday. Against Halifax he was brilliant and the goal was an amazing finish.

DCB did not have a good game on Saturday. So uncharacteristically so that it, together with the fact that he was a subbed sub, made me wonder if he was carrying a knock.
We do have a big squad this season, with many good quality players (by reputation Lee Smith definitely falls into that category). My guess is that how many of the squad remain will depend on if we stay in or around the play-off places, and any cup/trophy run. All of those look a more likely possibility than in recent years and would help keep the stiles turning and the finances fine.

DCB doesn't look interested that's the trouble. I am sure having been subbed on Saturday he will have got the message.
Whether he's interested enough to up his work-rate remains to be seen.

For the record Smudge never played with the Bear at FGR nor did he play with Luke at City. You can see some of his goals here - www.tigerroar.co.uk/leesmith.phpAnd if you want photos of him I've probably got thousands!
