City win 2-0, with a goal in each half! And Evesham win 8-0 at Halesowen.

An excellent win due to a hard working performance, excellent contributions all round against a very physical side. Surely if their player handled on the line to give away the penalty then he should have had a red?
Glover was half-throttled by defenders with their arms around his neck all afternoon but still kept going, likewise Danks. Dean Coleman put in a solid display and more or less had to handle the ball (otherwise the forward would have been clear) to give away the free-kick and get a red card. He had a sound display otherwise, as did Gavin Hurran on his debut, having joined - with no fanfare of trumpets - from Redditch. Matt Birley also put in a very hard working shift.
A very useful three points against one of the top five - although how they come to be that high up the table I don't know. I didn't see much from them apart from Weir-Daley up front.

great win today with a great performance all around. The sending off was pure comedy but glad he did that instead of conceding a goal.
Do we have another goal keeper as the guy that came on looked a bit unsure? Was he our second choice keeper? I couldnt see who it was.
p.s captain crazy.... what is this dude?

It was Richard Mace who came on as substitute 'keeper...I thought he did pretty well coming into the game so late.....not an easy task given Boston were going for broke!

Richard mace is the reserve gk, on bostons forum a member has said all we did was hoof the ball? ryan clarke and elvins looked solid , o connor had another tidy performance and a good debut for gavin at 25 he seems vastly experianced and i've got told that coleman for boston was'nt sent off because the reff never knew who handballed it,

Second that opinion on Hurren. Although early days I thought he gave us an additional bit of bite in the middle..made a numbe rof timely challenges and put himself about breaking up some of the Boston play nicely.

This was a hard fought, well earned victory. The back four were solid in the 1st half with another top class performance from Ryan Clarke.
Liked the look of new signing Hurran and thought keeper Coleman looked dependable though he was left with little choice when handling outside the box.
I also thought Richard Mace did well as Boston pressed.
Still can't believe the Boston coach spent almost 10 minutes arguing with our supporters during the game.
All-in-all another entertaining incident packed game.

A good all round performance by the City. Hurran impressed on his debut. Let's hope he can keep it up. Coleman did the right thing, if Boston had scored at that moment they would have been back in the game.
Can't understand the criticism of Mace as he mad some crucial saves which enabled the City to win. And the second goal caught Boston cold with most of their players pressing forward. Well taken by Thorley and the cross was perfect just out of the goalkeepers reach, and it didn't look as if they were only playing with ten men.

Ryan Clarke - man of the match by a country mile yesterday. Hardly gave his old side a sniff - he really was a most fortunate signing.
Generally good performance on a windy day and our pudding pitch. Hurran looked very solid and protected the back four well and I thought Glover had a good game up front.
Boston didn;t look like a top 5 club - they ran out of ideas after about 10 minutes when they realised that all their long balls seemed destined for the foreheads of either Elvins or Clarke.
Not a classic, but an enjoyable victory, with a bit of spice thrown in for good measure.

A thoroughly enjoyable game played in difficult conditions which only City seemed to cope with.
Boston and their supporters certainly did not seem to like it when City matched them in their physical approach.
Based on what I saw yesterday, if Boston manage to finish in the playoff places I can't see them going up as they simply don't seem to have much quality, just a physical presence.

Interesting comment from the Boston forum. If we're the worst team they've played and we deservedly won 2-0, presumably Boston must be the worst team ever!

I resent some of the comments they are making on their forum. Can't believe how bad losers they are but yes, if we are the worst team they have played and we have beaten them twice what does that say about them ;D

Walking from the ground after the victory over BU, I following two of their followers down the road, they were speaking very loudly running down all the Worcester players and the referee. But most of all they were trying to gode City supporters into an argument and were looking for trouble. Fortunately not one bit.

A crowd of some 600 odd, somewhat disappointing considering BU are fifth and in the running for the play-offs.
Where did everyone get to? If it had not been for the good attendtendance of the BU supporters the crowd could have been around 400.
Was it because of the games on TV?

Here's what one of their joint-managers had to say in the Lincolnshire paper:-
He and I and a few of you too obviously watched a different game to their supporters!
I'd second what Mancunian said above; Gavin Hurran's physical presence in midfield freed up O'Connor to roam a bit and it certainly made a difference.
I'd also second what was said about Ryan Clarke; how lucky are we to have him? He never put a foot wrong on Saturday.

Wow that is a glowing statement from thier management It just shows how far we have come from last season. If only we could be consistent. That is all that is missing from this team , but it the difference between a mid-lower table side and what could be a play-off team. Let us hope we can keep the side together and that extra year of experince together and we could once again be looking forward to a season of high expectations.

I think, with all those missing Saturdays due to the weather, people have got out of the habit. Plus they haven't seen anything spectacular from City and hence have lost interest. Pity, 'cos I think we're playing well.

Makes you wonder 'what if we hadn't of gone south' the team Dryden would of had, OK he may still have been a complete failure but we will never know and the good squad we had may well have been improved and we maybe would of been there or there abouts each year.
Can't think of all the players lost but the stand out players Clarke, Danks, Clegg, Smudge, Webby and so on just makes you wonder.
Although I'm glad we went south for certain games, opposition etc etc and for the experience we all got from it, also maybe it will be seen as a defining moment in WCFC history as the period which ultimately bought an end to 'The Old Guard' and now back in the north this club is going in the right direction both on and off the pitch, al we need now is a new place to call home!!

People, well floating fans, will just go to the pub and watch their football there, sadly.

True supporters go to watch their team live. Football on the tv is no excuse. There's football on the tv tonight, its dire, I'd much rather be at a live non league game.

Much more appealing to 99% of people. The entry fee is too high to encourage people to the Lane.

But not casual, floating, part-time fans....who've made up a large proportion of WCFC/N-Lge. crowds in the past. One of the many reasons why our gates have dropped around 75% in the last 3 decades.... The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. And PL footy for £10?? Where?
