Fingers crossed for a small element of revenge.....
Good luck to the lads and all making the long trek north to deepest Cumbria.

Game called off just as the team arrived despite Workington saying at 8 a.m. that everything was okay.

It appears that the pitch may not actually have been playable at 08.00, and they were assuming that with the forecast temperatures for this morning, it would have thawed by kick-off time.
No basis for saying a match is on, in my book. May be an OK approach if they were playing Carlisle, but not Worcester, for sure. Too much of a gamble, and one they got expensively wrong.

In the Yorkshire Premier League if the home team do not cancel in time and the away team arrive for the match the Home team are AUTOMATICALLY fined and the away team awarded the 3 points.
Not suprisingly it focuses the mind and as a result?.....................yep, a massive fixture backlog

Yes but Yorkshiremen are ALWAYS right. So this would never need to be applied.

Stopped the weekend with my daughter at Bardsea, near Barrow. Tried to ring Workington before the game, but no reply, so set off in hope. By chance I had BBC Radio Cumbria on and was 20 minutes away from Borough Park when I heard them say it had just been called off, so I only did about 100 miles for nothing. Still it was a beautiful day, wonderful scenery and a nice cup of tea en route.
Could have been worse, but spare a thought for the players - 11 hours on a coach is no way to spend a Saturday!

The Mrs took the weekend off work and we were going to travel up Friday night but thankfully we decided to go for a few beers, miss the dreadful friday night traffic and travel Saturday morning. Checked the web at 0600 saw that it had been minus 9 in Cumbria so went straight back to bed Not often I get something right Could not think of anything worse than 14 hours in the car only to find out it was off phew!

Does anyone know if there's commentary on the radio this evening?
Here I am answering my own post! BBC Radio Cumbria will have coverage - when the match starts!!!
I came in part way through, but it would appear City have been delayed en route and the kick-off at Borough Park is not now till 8.15 pm !
So it's going to be very late when the lads finally get home.

Reason for delay was a huge hold-up on the M6 apparently.

No Danks, No Birley, No Clarke. I guess the location may have something to do with the absence of all three.
Having said which although the football pages list the City team minus Birley he's just been mentioned on the commentary at least three times, so that website may not be correct.
Given the late kick-off whatever time will our players get home?

FWP have got the line up wrong- should be Matt Birley and not the convicted Brad Birch.

32 minutes: still 0-0 and commentary has now reverted to Mansfield v Barrow, with only updates from Borough Park.

Bad news: 1-0 to Workington with a wonder strike from Gareth Arnison.
