Iceland's U21 team played Scotland U21 in the first leg of a European championship play-off game in Reykjavik this evening in front of 7000 spectators (that's the equivalent of 140,000 turning up to see England's U21's). Amazingly it was 1-1 with 15 minutes to go with the shot tally being 15 to 3 in the Icer's favour. On comes the Mighty Fram's young forward Almarr Ormarsson (who scored Fram's first goal at TNS last year) and within a couple of minutes dispatches the ball into the top corner from 25 metres. 2-1 at full time, with the second leg to come on Monday. 7 out of the Iceland U21 team played for the senior team against Denmark last month, conceeding a goal in injury time to lose 1-0, but they have all been allowed to play for the younger team to try and qualify. The future looks bright, the future is icy! The goals from the game, all excellent, are here (6.30 mins in) dagskra.ruv.is/sjonvarpid/4547474/2010/10/07/

Before you get too excited, they only beat Scotland U21! Scottish football is hardly going through the best time in its history is it?
Any more banks or volcanoes going to implode and cause chaos that we need to be aware of?
Oh yeah and keep your mitts off our cod! ;-)

Doesn't matter who it is, if we win then we're at the Euro's, the first time an Icelandic male football team has done so.
On your second point, I really don't know but I fear the worst. I am off to Iceland tomorrow and if previous trips are anything to go by then expect the end of the world. First I came back in Sept 08 and less than a week later the country collapsed, then in mid-March this year I left Iceland on the Friday and the volcano started on the Saturday. I sort of feel responsible as I have been knackered since I got back in March, so I reckon the Gods are channeling it through me.
As for the cod, I think you'll find it's mackrel and you can hardly blame them for choosing the waters of Iceland and the Faroe's where they don't have to suffer the sight of over-weight Brits in Speedo's splashing about in their turf.

You "sort of feel responsible" Don't ever think of flying the Iceland flag over here, in fact no!! I'm going to go over to Iceland and tell the people of Iceland "Take down your National Flag, its offensive anyway!"

Actually the Welsh should be offended by the Union Jack as it's just an English flag on top of a Scottish one.

But they're not because they have done their research, and they understand history! Some bright spark on here was rambling on about the Welsh Dragon, but if he'd done his research he would have known that the Welsh Dragon emblem wasnt officially adopted until the 1950's! No, for "England" you can substitute "England and Wales" quite correctly.

Oh and by the way my flag is much nicer, and classier, than yours, which looks like it was designed by the second year pupils at a primary school after a lunch break consuming as much Pepsi as possible.

Alas I wont be doing a VOR and coming over to Iceland and branding your flag offensive! It appears that it is a criminal offence punishable by a year in jail!! Damn good job I did my research I think I'll go to Monaco and turn their flags upside down and tell them they've been annexed by Poland!

Well, give that Ronaldo some stick next week. And good luck to Icelanders. I've got split loyalties on that one Tony. I would gladly kick him but my step daughter loves him and wants his babies (perhaps she should turn to surragasy) and his autograph. Unfortunately I will be outside the ground looking through the fence (oh the beauty of a two sided ground) as I was unsure if I would be back in time from up north and it sold out in the meantime.
