it's the floodlights every time for me. If I'm ever on the train coming into Foregate Street from Birmingham then those four magnificent specimens can be seen in all their glory looking down on the hallowed turf. Even if the club had £50 million to spend on a stadium then they would never be able to provide something equal to those beasts.
Could probably do with a couple more bulbs in them though

Yep, I know exactly what you mean, as the train bears right, you look over to your right, and there they are! You know you're almost home, and your heart fills with pride. Its enough to make you want to join the former Chairman in a merry whistle I'll be saddened when I have to pass the ground to go up to my parents house, and the forecourt won't be there.

Having been going to the Lane for 50+ years I will also miss it. Happy memories of better times with long lost relatives. But after visiting The Bucks Head for the first time I WANT ONE OF THEM. I was highly impressed with the Stadium, catering, car park, PA, promotion of the Sponsors, and especially the stewards. A very good set up all round.

Even the prgramme was of a league standard. When you see WCFC and AFC Telford the gap in professionalism is massive. Their announcer made such a difference too- Sorry Captain Crazy but you may have been good one day but things have moved on now.....

It wasnt quite done from scratch at Telford though. It helps to have a £15 million existing stadium development to work with. Andy Shaw's companies may have gone into financial meltdown, but he personally bankrolled the club whilst in control, to the tune of £1 million a year from all accounts. The debt they had when they folded was about a third of ours! Interestingly, when the club went into liquidation, the supporters were asked to help out and avoid it, but they said no! Probably the bravest and ultimately the most sensible response by football supporters, who took the emotion out of the situation, and accepted the reality! It is the supporters who made the difference, and its the Telford supporters who continue to make the difference. I wonder though, if Miras Contracts hadnt collapsed, whether Andy Shaw would now be seen as the saviour of Telford, as they live the dream of League football! Now we'll start with no ground, a ground share, and no money. But if Newport County can do it, so can we!

I don't regret many things, but I do regret never getting to see the infamous Simon in action at the White House hotel....I guess it would be like watching one of the apprentice contenders in action ?

Me too Cogg, I actually had it on a USB stick in my computer bag in a motorway services not long ago, so I sat in Starbucks, plugged him in, and enjoyed the entertainment!! You can tell that he's totally misjudged the audience, he thinks that they are going to react like a bunch of hyped up young business guns in a rah-rah meeting! but they're just thinking "WTF is this clown rattling on about??" Then he's rattled by the simplest of questions, and finally floored by Colin Layland! As I have said before, he thought he was onto a winner when he was getting people to raise their hands for supporting the clubfor 20, or 30 or 40 years, yet he failed to notice that not many people in the room were new to WCFC, and thats the problem. He should have been trying to create a dynamic club for younger people instead of a retirement home with cheap glitterballs for old farts like us!!

Mind you, you should have seen Keith Harris at the county Ground meeting! Ealing just cracked me up with his comments. That was hilarious!
