Having watched us dominate the last 2 games (before today) Vs Maidenhead away and Staines away, both played on pitches covered in grass, smooth and of a reasonable standard compared to SGL, I am beginning to think playing at home is becoming a disadvantage. I realise that beggars can not be choosers and we need the extra income that the ground share deal brings in, but I feel that we play much better football when we can the ball around with confidence as we do on a decent pitch. On several occasions today the ball flew off the side of a boot into the crowd, and Wardy was having a nightmare on the flank with the ball bobbling round when he was trying to pass and it nullifies any threat that the likes of Pike can offer by taking players on a with his excellent passing game. Is the ground share hindering our progress?

How come the ball wasn't bobbling around in front of Bath players? And the flanks are a lot better than the middle, so I'm not sure Ward can use that excuse. I think its more down to us not being a very good team, some okay individuals who work very hard, but not a team, lacking understanding of where teammates are. Its understandable really though considering the changes of personnel in the last few weeks. Craig Wilding? What is his role?

The pitch was of course the same for both teams but it hindered our play far more. On the decent pitches we have played far better than our position would expect us to play. We have some good players in that midfield when fully fit. Walker, Emery, Pike and Price all players that can pass the ball, link up well and deliver telling crosses but with a ball bobbling all over we have to resort to long ball over that midfield to 2 the likes of Marco who is not the strongest in the air Wilding....... I think they call it a Utility player role but I can't answer that one, beyond me. A heart of gold, works hard but just a lost sheep wondering around aimlessly

But we don't have to resort to the long ball, thats my point, Bath didn't resort to long ball, they played the ball through midfield, with Harris and Hogg able to work the ball around. The pitch may not have been all that green, but it was pretty true. In fact if Bath had played long ball in the air, the excellent Shabir Khan would have had a field day, but they played it on the ground and exposed that lack of mobility in Wayne Daniels very well. Wilding seems to be playing the "holding midfielder" role but instead of being just in front of the back four, he's playing it just behind the front two! It doesnt work at all.

Mainly because Wilding doesn't like defending. As it involves expending effort. Though to be fair, has proved quite effective in the past, when he can be bothered.
If he's anywhere near the pitch on Saturday, hopefully the crowd will tell him that any Inertia is intolerable in the context of that game.
