So the referee coming to inspect the pitch prior to the Carshalton game is delayed by the icy conditions and the inspection has been put back to 1.30 pm. Surely someone could have saved him a journey? Now, let's see..... I'm seventy miles away.....I'm looking at SGL with satellite imagery......I predict tomorrow's game is....OFF. Joe Coral won't offer me odds.... meanie.

Or simply get one of the locally based Level 3 Referees in the County to do the pitch inspection instead like we have done in the past.

I was under the impression from the opening post that it was the actual match official who was on his way.
Adam should be coming down from Droitwich - as he works there for the County FA

I know there are rules to be followed but shouldn't common sense have prevailed here? The game was never going to be on was it?

This was one time when a pitch inspection wasnt even needed (ok its probably a formality that needs to be gone through). The snow has frozen so its going nowhere, the ground underneath has frozen, the temperature in direct sunlight today never got up above freezing point, the temperature overnight will be at best -4 or maybe -3 , there is further snow forecast if the temperature rises at all, and thats the most positive spin I could put on the chances of a game going ahead. If Premiership games are being postponed, what hope for non-league grounds? Mind you, it might have been fun watching cars sliding down Merrimans Hill Road!!
