OMG, have just been driving home and nearly had an accident when I heard that that pile of horse manure up the M1 was on the WC bidding city list. Its as if the FA have an official rule that "seven and a half years history is long enough". So Arsenal won the first FA Cup all those years ago, Derby County (founded 1888, sorry 2002), Leicester City (founded 1884, sorry 2002) and Hull City (founded 1904, sorry 2002) must be gutted to have lost out to that lot of team stealing barstewards.
So the FA condones football franchising after all. News to all of us

No great surprise? Though as a non-English person, MK* is a fitting testament to modern 'Ingle-land'. Though of course those plastic fools have no relevance to modern football. Still, could have been worse. Can think of somewhere even more horrible, with one of those letters*, in their name!

MK Stadium is the perfect, soulless stadium for a soulless club that befits the image being created in the upper echelons of the English game. At face value it is a nice looking ground but it has no character whatsoever. I don't understand why people want heated seats and to be able to stretch their legs when seated in a ground. Atmospheres within football grounds have been in terminal decline for the last 20 years due to all seated stadium, the changed demographic of supporters (an influx of bandwagon jumpers who you won't see for dust when the bubble bursts), phone camera wielding idiots more interested in getting a grainy picture on their Nokia of players celebrating a goal than actually savouring the moment and celebrating it themselves, the horrendous and thoroughly pointless foam fingers and the monstrosity of music being played when a goal is scored. It's as if the powers that be have to point out when supporters are supposed to show emotion these days.

You have a point, but I dont think piss down your leg was what you'd call "soul" Why shouldnt you be comfortable in a football ground? You wouldnt stand to watch a movie, or at a theatre? And without those bandwagon jumpers (just which bandwagon have they jumped on? or off??) then England wouldnt be in a position to even bid for a World Cup

piss down the leg was character building stuff as was losing your shoe and seeing it being passed around the heads in the terracing only for it to miraculously find its way back to you.
One of the best things about non league football is the fact you can stand - some of the best times I have had at a football ground have been in the Shed when City had a big game. It created a sense of belonging and unity far more so than could ever be created at MK Dons plastic ground. I don't go to grounds for comfort, I go to watch football and take on all that the elements can throw at me. I don't expect to be herded in like cattle and have my well being endangered but heated seats and extra leg room are another step to sanitised football. I have been to MK Stadium this season and while visually it is impressive there is no soul whatsoever.

Yep, totally agree about non-league football.
