I think that RD has put together an excellent squad under the circumstances. It won't be enough for any glory this season but I can easily see him achieving his aim of proving the bookies wrong.
I'm going for a 1-0 win for City on Saturday with 712 attending.

0-0 540, dull opener to set the tone for the home campaign. I hope I'm wrong

Nice weather, no real sporting competition on TV or locally, season opener, this really should be attracting a crowd of between 800-900. People such as me and Archie and Cogg should be looking forward to seeing each other again after the summer recess. A beer served by mein host Mr Jones in the HKL, crack a few jokes, avoid the approaches of the sycophant on the terraces and take up our respective positions around the ground. Discuss the merits of putting The Bill on at 9.00 and try to make it more gritty (which I don't think is working) and the re-siting of Corry further away from the traditional Monday and Wednesday slots, or whatever else becomes the topic of inane discussion. Joke with the oppo goalie, laugh at the kid who calls him "Kermit" - why??? cos he's wearing green obviously! Laugh about whether we should have worn sunglasses, raincoats, or both! Oh and watch a bit of football to boot!! With plenty of "who's this No. 7?, he's fast!" type comments to regain our bearings on the team.
Oh well, 0-2 and a crowd described by Director of Football Dave Boddy as "disappointing"

Yes indeed, I would have been tempted by that. A very pleasant way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Oh well, one day perhaps - though I doubt it.

Optimistically, going for a 2-2 draw, watched by 612.
