Okay, I was just looking at a Wimbledons old ground at Plough Lane on livesearch, and it got me thinking of the old grounds I've been to where football is no longer played. So who can name the team who once played here? You might need a bit of help figuring out where on the map, the clue is in the colour of the houses.

Possibly in a few years time - this club no longer exists, although the reformed club have a little belter of a new stadium, a landmark stadium in fact, fit for a prince

No, although I did go to two stadiums tenuously related to D&R. They were formed as an amalgamation of mergers, from Leytonstone and Ilford, and Walthamstow to form Redbridge Forest, and then to merge with the Daggers to form the latest club. When we were drawn against Leytonstone Ilford in the Cup/Trophy (not sure which) I drove down to the Leytonstone Ilford ground, which was in the London AtoZ, only to find no ground there, and found out they played at Walthamstows ground, which I managed to find without a map AND get there in time for the game. But no its not D&R

I think Scarboroughs ground is still there. Certainly on Livesearch it still is.

The coach used to pull up and park in the road below the main road on the map, where the bit of derelict ground is. Pre M25, we got there minutes before kick off one game, I think it was the one where Mossy got sent off, we lost anyway, we always did when I visited this ground.

No, but I've always wondered where Hillingdon Boroughs ground was, they'd disappeared before I started travelling to away games.

Hillingdon sold their ground and then realised they couldn't afford a new one. Imagine that?
Is it Crawley's old gaff?

Nope, but Crawleys old gaff looks very similar now, harder to pinpoint on a map. Not Crawley, but in the general vicinity, in terms of which league they'd be in.
Another clue, its on quite a famous old Street

It must be Watling Street home of Maidstone Utd and also Dartford in later years before both went for a Burton....one of Dartfords last games was at the City back in the mid 90s and it was delayed due to bad fog!!

"before both went for a Burton" Is that what Boddy means by a "Burton style stadium"?

It's a great shame that London sides like Leystonstone; Walthomstow; Romford; Hillingdon etc etc are no more. The old amateur leagues here were huge and well attended.

the gallows humour is coming out...must be all that ropey stuff being handed out! Interesting about old grounds and attendances because it seems a lot of people are now reminiscing about the good old days of football...i think away from the big 4 who're monopolizing things football has lost touch with the fans with hiked prices etc!

It certainly is DARTFORD!!! (and Maidstone of course) Heres another one. Quite easy this one I think, the ground was slap bang in the middle of the pic

That's a yachting marina nearby, so must be Margate?
This is a slightly depressing game - but a good one.

Correct!!! Last time I went to this ground we lost in the FA Cup, put in a woeful performance losing 3-1. I went on the coach, and wanted to get back in good time as I'd had a major fallout with my wife-to-be, but no the coach had to stop at about 5 pubs and a fish and chip shop and didnt get back till about 11 !! Its now an Asda supermarket, I drove past it with the family when we went down to Weymouth whilst staying down at Warmwell. Anyway, here's another This was a favourite ground of mine - again right in the middle of the picture.

On the way to Weymouth? Had you borrowed my sat nav? If so I'd say Third Lanark. If not Dorchester?

No, this one isn't near Weymouth, nearer your neck of the woods Ealing. With links to an Internationally famous movie star

Sid James - Spot ON! REnowned for his dashing runs u pthe left wing at Lower Mead!! I remember travelling there on the coach when we drew 3-3 , Mossy scoring twice before coming off with a knee problem in the year that they won the league, and we were relegated!! I also went to Vicarage Road to see us play them in what I think was the last league game against them, we thrashed them 4-1 they were so poor! Okay try another one - even though the ground is still shown on the map, I don't think its there any more. This one I think is so easy, there's a huge clue in the picture!!

Looks like a county cricket ground on the right, tennis courts on the left. Not a big club - only one stand evident. Canterbury?

You have figured out the clue Ealing, well done. But no its not Canterbury. it had more than one stand when we played there.
