I've never sung at a football match in my life, I don't know how you can sing and still watch a game? Some people sing facing away from the pitch, how does that work? And I kind of draw the line at singing anything along the lines of "Worcester city FC are by far the greatest team the world has ever seen" I think its the "by far" bit, actually no its the whole lot - WCFC will never ever ever ever be the worlds greatest team, sorry! However if a song was put together re Mr Boddy and the clowns, I might be tempted to join in

The lack of singing at home is an age-old problem, it only ever happens when it's pissing down and everyone is in the shed, or in big cup matches. Away from home it's always been a different matter, frequently non-stop singing throughout the game, and undoubtedly it spurs the team on. I know several of the players and they love it, they were even requesting songs a few weeks ago. As the author of such well-known ditties as "My garden shed", "Marco Adaggio", "Father Ted" and the legendary Ronnie Oliver (RIP you old git) song, I may be fairly well qualified to comment Why though? Is the Lane too big for the pockets of supporters? We all have our own preferred places to stand at the Lane, whereas we all tend to stand together away from home. There's also the factor that the majority of people getting off the coach at away games are several sheets to the wind by 3pm, and considerably more vocal as a result. Should we make it mandatory that everyone convenes in the Plough at 12 noon before home games? Is it the fact that sadly at home the repertoire seems to consist of "Worcestershire la la la" and "by far the greatest team" and little more, turn-offs if ever I heard one? Probably the biggest factor is the lack of cover, besides the Shed. Sound reverberates at many of these away grounds with compact terraces behind the goal and low ceilings, and 50 people extolling the virtues of Worcestershire make more noise under cover than they do on the St.George's Walk terrace, no matter how hard we try. Grrrrr, all this talk of singing is making me think about attending on Saturday now!

Singing anti-Boddy songs is a definite attraction! Good idea scousa89.

Don't just pick on Boddy, okay just because he was elected Chairman by the Board, it doesn't give him any more rights or responsibilities than any other Director, and it should be known that it wasn't he who scuppered the compromise as such. It was the other 3 mousketeers, Prescott, Brown and Partridge. so make sure they get as much stick as anyone else. These three clowns have all said that they would resign if they could, then when given the opportunity they refused. The compromise arrangement would have meant that existing Board members Celia Adams and Dave Boddy would remain on Board, but other Directors Partridge, Prescott and Brown would not be on the new Board. They all dug their heels in, saying that they were indispensible, certainly in the case of one of them saying that "there was no-one else who could do his job!" So the compromise died. Judging by the way Prescott jumped down my throat when faced with a piece of red paper, I'd say he's flakey!! So let these 3 buffoons feel the heat too.

Can somone perhaps write a song that would be apt for the present crisis? i totally 100% disagree with singing bwt the board. i turn up week in and week out do all i can to sing n people wants to sing stuff like sack the board. for instance the game at braintree at home some1 put a baner up sayin resign now the players walked out the tunel n see that. heads go dwn and guess wt. were 2-0 dwn by half tym. until us lot told them to put it dwn he did . and guess wt we drew 2-2. we have got to get behind the team in a good way. singin stuff ike we r far the best team.. n tht makes them play better cuz they know thy got support. so wtever is happenin behnd the doors stays tht way or else its going to effect the players so non of tht tomorrow specially when we got tamworth in the fa cup out local ish rivals so get behind the team ( in a good way ) form jaffa 09

Don't treat the players like idiots, they know the score, the actions of the Board are impacting directly on them, their heads don't go down when they see banners (they're a darned sight more professional than that for goodnes sake) but they do get pissed off when they havent got the right equipment for training because the Board won't buy the stuff the manager needs. Or havent got enough kit to go round. Unfortunately the comment about the banner affecting the result is wrong, the banner was put up first in the game against Hayes and Yeading - it wasn't up in the first half and City went 2-0 down, it went up at half time and they only conceded one goal in the second half and played much better!! Maybe the players felt that the supporters were prepared to help them in their fight for better facilities at WCFC, or maybe they just get on with their jobs like every other week. People are concerned about whether the club is going to be there by the end of October, which is probably more important than singing a song about Marco Addagio (and he'd agree too!!) But if you don't want people to protest, then don't complain if they don't turn up, I personally don't want to stand down at SGL and pretend everything is alright.

Before the H & Y game RD was informed that there was to be a protest so there was no surprise for the management or players. If I was playing for the city at present I'd want paying weekly just in case the cheques dry up.

They do get paid weekly. In credits for Sportslines, discount kit vouchers and old speedway programmes.

Don't think anyone is saying we shouldn't sing songs praising the players, are they? What Jeremy is saying above is that protesting about the way the board are killing the club is just as valid as extolling the virtues of Italian strikers!

I'm sure Adaggio loves having his name being sung, but with no club to play for, and no club to follow away from home, who are you going to sing to? and where?? Or are you going to stand outside the window of his home and have a sing song?

if it wasnt 4 us there would be no singing at the lane . i wuld hate to think what it was like b4 we came down lol . You don't remember the good times do you? When the Shed was full, and I mean full, when you couldn't see the refreshment hut in the corner by the Shed for people (the refreshment hut was way back behind the tin fence that now goes round that corner) The noise was fantastic, I can remember being behind the goal at the dressing room end, before it was a concrete terrace, against Wrexham, and the barrier giving way in front of the Shed when Mossy scored - the surge on the dressing room terrace at the other end from the goal was scary! In fact I'm convinced we won that game due to the scariness of the atmosphere. Believe me, a few kids singing hardly registers with those days, and it was only 20 years ago.

If I was playing for the city at present I'd want paying weekly just in case the cheques dry up. Nothing is done without the knowledge and approval of the management. If they said no, there would be no protest, end of!! Try a bit of reading between the lines on this one.

Thanks for saving the game by asking us to remove it! If you remember our conversation we agreed to take down the banner at half time as a compromise, which we did. I also offered to chat at half time to explain why we put it up in the first place. Unfortunately I didn't have that chance as you moved by then- with the banner still up. We took it down because that was what we had agreed. If you still want to listen to my reasoning I'll be there tomorrow, just follow the banner. If you don't I will still exercise my right to free speech, the same way you exercise yours by singing your songs.
